Farm worker union upset with probe into killing in Mexico

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- The head of a Toledo, Ohio-based farm workers union is upset with police in Mexico who are investigating the beating death of one of its employees who helped workers in North Carolina and Ohio.

Baldemar Velasquez is president of the of the Farm Labor Organizing Committee.

He says he's dismayed that police in Mexico have no leads or motives nearly ten days after the killing.

He's urging officials in Mexico to push police for more.

Officials in Monterrey, Mexico believe that Santiago Rafael Cruz was killed on either April 8th or 9th.

He had just been hired by the farm union to manage the Monterrey office.
