Sporting some kind of growth on his face, BR thinks the delegate count leader after tomorrow should run unopposed the rest of the way to the convention.

Is it possible for Hillary to become the delegate count leader after tomorrow? I think this means that Richardson essentially wants Hillary to drop out.

I disagree, and here's why (and I'm a bit more of an Obama supporter than Hillary): Obama and Hillary are in the news, day after day, while McCain is really not. No more story left on the GOP side. Except scandals, for now.

1. What is his big friggin hurry??
This long primary season is not unheard of and it is not hurting anything. Maybe he should just be a man and endorse someone. It is like he wants to sit on the fence and see which one of them wins so he can get a position in the White House. I agree with you that the media barely gives McCain a mention and the Dems are dominating the new cycles.

4. I have to disagree with you there

At this point it IS hurting Obama, even though he's doing a brilliant job of deflecting the attacks. But he's being tag-teamed by Hillary and McCain.

There is growing resentment (as if we didn't have enough) between Obama and Hillary supporters lately, especially in light of Hillary going incredibly negative, i.e. shame on you, mocking hope and change and the 3am fear-inspiring commercial. This is in no way helpful or positive.

This is in contrast to when Edwards was in the race and pushing both Obama and Hillary further down the progressive side of the spectrum with his rhetoric. Edwards staying in the race WAS a good thing, but how is the current situation productive in any way? Is Hillary making Obama more progressive in some way? If she is I sure don't see it.

6. That's an interesting point, but Obama doesn't seem to be having
any trouble deflecting these attacks from either one. It's been rather surprising and refreshing to watch him re-frame and spin the arguments on their head.

But you may be right about the long term corrosive effects of the negativity. We'll have to see.

9. The ONLY positive that *I* take away from it
is that Obama is showing some great fight. He's showing that he can kick some figurative ass just as easily as he can inspire hope and change (I'm speaking very broadly here obviously).

I *hope* that's what others take away from it but as for the long term corrosive effects of the negativity...well, let's hope the effects are only short term.

5. Right, as long as they are continuing to bring in money
what's the harm? Also agreed BR should endorse and take his chances. He really wants a cabinet post, doesn't he? (Or the VP slot)

2. I agree with your take on it, the first part at least
Edited on Mon Mar-03-08 12:52 PM by ihavenobias
He's indirectly saying we should get behind Obama as soon as tomorrow night. People may disagree with that point, but I honestly believe that's the point he's making.

15. That's pretty much it, since he's saying the nominee should be the pledged delegate winner ...
... and there's no way for Hillary to overtake Obama on pledged delegates, short of Obama dropping-out or a total implosion, and definitely not without continuing her ultra-negative campaigning.

7. I agree with Richardson -
It's gotten excessively negative and it could hurt us in November.

And that beard looks good on him.

8. The way to keep subgroups down is to promote fighting between them
If we ever woke up and decided to truly unite, it would be the end of the present dominant socio-economic-ethnic class.

Unfortunately it's damned hard to realize that we, yes "US," could actually represent "us AND them." At best today we can form loose coalitions of "us and allies (i.e. "not quite them")."

In other words, it still takes a village to make war on another village. It makes no sense for a village to attack a city.

Been this way for many millenia and it's really way past due time to change this.

10. He's looking good, I like the beard. And I like the point he is making.
If Hillary were leading in delegates, and Obama was continuing to
fight, using attack methods, I would want him to step aside, for
the same reason Richardson gives here.

11. Bill will make a great VP for Hillary or Barack.
Top notch intellect, great resume, broad appeal, and has a Will Rodgers style wit.

13. If Hillary dropped out, maybe she could grow that beard she's always wanted. :)
That's a good look for Richardson.

14. He didn't say anybody should run unopposed.
He's emphasizing that the campaign should be positive. No more negative attacks. So he's OK with both candidates continuing, so long as the ultra-negative attacks end.
