It is my sincere wish in posting this is that Addie May Collins, Denise McNair, Cynthia Wesley, and Carole Robertson's tragedy may serve as a gentle reminder of the insidiousness of racism. Their's is one of too many such events that shaped the course of the Civil Rights Movement in our country.
No matter who your candidate is, no matter what derision either candidate suffers from their opponent, please take a moment to reflect on the beliefs of the Democratic Party. It is from these beliefs that our arguments are are shaped and formed, and from that core is the strength and truth of the Democratic vision that has brought us so far from where we were on Sept. 15, 1963, in Birmingham, AL, as a nation. It's the strength that will help us on the hard road ahead, for there is still so much left unfinished and we have far to go.
The Democratic Vision
The Democratic Party is committed to keeping our nation safe and expanding opportunity for every American. That commitment is reflected in an agenda that emphasizes the security of our nation, strong economic growth, affordable health care for all Americans, retirement security, honest government, and civil rights.
