It doesn't look like will be leaving Iraq any time soon.

A "Sustained long surge" is on the way, depite the fact that only 20% of Americans want a troop increase.

1. I just wonder HOW wrong does this guy have to get it before media starts to ignore him?
Kristol, representing the PNAC (aka Neo-con central), is pulling the strings in the White House, however, and what he says is what Bush will do, in spite of any legacy building, etc.

It's sad to see such bad history in the making, much like when we invaded Cambodia.

4.  Kristol actually is the media
Edited on Sun Dec-24-06 11:37 AM by yankhadenuf
since he is Editor of Weekly Standard... and of course, Rupert Murdoch grooms him for FOX. If you ever notice the bio they list for Kristol under his name is always "Weekly Standard editor" NEVER, EVER "the president of PNAC".

8. Kristol has been pushing fo the draft for a couple of years and Bush
doesn't care about his legacy.

It is sad. Sometimes I think that the PNAC, Bush, and Cheney view our soldiers as nothing more than a cover for their business ventures. Kristol is a protégé of Leo Strauss, Bush learned his uncaring attitude at his mother's knee, and we all know what Cheney has to gain from a surge in the military.

11. Someone at another forum put it very well also
Sadly this is so true it is painful... he said "you know how when we plan barbecues , you don't invite the cows, they are just a necessary part of the BBQ. It's the same with war and NeoCONS, they simply consider soldiers as a necessary part of the neocon war plan."

2. At 3:52 in the clip, Juan Williams look on his face is priceless!
Right after Bill Kristol says "it's nice to see a president showing leadership and courage", williams looks truly bewildered.

3. William Kristol, Chairman...PNAC...
Edited on Sun Dec-24-06 11:43 AM by MathEducation
http://www.newamericancentury.org/

William "Bill" Kristol (born December 23, 1952 in New York City) is a Jewish American neoconservative thinker, inspired in part by the ideas of Leo Strauss.<1> He is the son of Irving Kristol, who is considered to be one of the founders of the neoconservative movement, and Gertrude Himmelfarb, a scholar of the Victorian era in literature.

And what helped bankrupt the Soviet Union? Could it be...insurgents (proxy wars) in Afghanistan???

The former director of the CIA and current Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates, stated in his memoirs "From the Shadows", that American intelligence services began to aid the opposing factions in Afghanistan 6 months before the Soviet deployment.

I wonder if the US has any enemies that just might be "aiding" the insurgents in Iraq? And for what purpose? And how much is a barrel of oil? And just how stupid are we... (i.e. unable to absorb ideas and make intelligent decisions; like letting your "gut" or "voices in your head" make decisions)

Go figure...

5. The Kristols, father and son, are always the chess-players
and the men behind the curtain... American soldiers are just their pawns.
When is the BIG THREE (CBS, NBC, ABC) going to lift that curtain?

6. most people have never heard of PNAC..

It just amazes me how "uninformed" Americans are.

We've hosted 3 foreign exchange students (Russia, Germany and Switzerland). These students are amazed/frightened at how "uninformed" American students are.

Guess what. These "uninformed" American students grow up to be "uninformed" American adults...and vote for idiots/assholes like GW Bush (and Kay Bailey Hutchinson)...

9. not sure...
Edited on Sun Dec-24-06 12:14 PM by MathEducation
But I noticed our 3 exchange students were shocked by, pitied and often afraid of the local high school students...

Our student from Switzerland was fluent in 5 languages. They all are "world travelers" and thinkers and listeners and...

We visited with our friend's exchange student from South Korea and another from Ireland and from Germany and from Vietnam etc., etc.. They view their time in the US as a "vacation". At home they go to school 6 days a week and stay up until midnight doing homework.

10. How can he take himself seriously...
appearing on Fox channel constantly spouting that same old "expand the military, we're winning, the U.S. knows best rhetoric". The truly smart neocons like Francis Fukuyama have peeled off a long time ago, even Perle and Wolfowitz are crying in their beers over the incompetent way the war they designed was prosecuted.

12. Unfortunately he may be right, that is why Congress better start investigations IMMEDIATELY
and if violations of law are found, impeachment MUST occur. It is probably the only vehicle Congress has at their disposal to stop this insanity

an old saying among horsemen that they live in hope and die in despair.

...

And it will have to be the Establishment that breaks Bush -- or he won't be broken. All the blogs in the world won't bring him down, no matter how much truth they tell, how much bloodsoaked Bushist dirt they expose. Yes, perhaps if we had millions of outraged citizens marching in the street day after day across America, a sustained mass movement and popular uprising for liberty and democracy, this might obviate the need for Establishment action. But we all know that such marches are not going to happen. If there was sufficient fire for liberty and democracy in America, there would have already been a popular uprising -- and Bush would never have garnered enough public support to keep the election results close enough to be fudged. No, it will be the Establishment -- or no one.

...

The next few weeks will show us if there is still some hope of restoring the Republic through the old institutions, or if we will have to follow the course laid out by Bob Dylan some 40 years ago: "Strike another match, go start anew." Who knows? Maybe we can make a better republic next time: one not born of blood, greed and fury -- those all-too-common elements of human organization -- but made from a new compound of mercy, justice, communion and liberty. Still imperfect, of course, still corrupt -- because that's our intractable human nature -- but with our worst instincts restrained by enlightened, ever-evolving law, and the predatory ambitions of the rich and powerful reined by elaborate checks and balances.

15. William Kristol has no military experience,
and is not considered a military stratigist. He is playing a cardboard chess game using US soldiers as pawns.

16. "Designer" Wars from think tanks
Edited on Mon Dec-25-06 12:59 PM by yankhadenuf
This Pinky and the Brain crap has to be "outted"... the men behind the curtain, even if they are civilian like Kristol, need to go to the Hague too (And those that fund their draconian war plots ie, Scaife, etc ). Hundreds of thousands of bloggers AND the foreign press around the world know he and his father (god-father of neoconism) are the real puppet-masters. Historians are going to scratch their heads in wonder that this never got out in American MSM.
