3. Not a single Ukrainian flag in the protests

Those are all Russian/Communist supporters and flags that are protesting Ukraine's entrance into NATO, not the general Ukrainian population. Russia doesn't want Ukraine to join NATO for fear of losing Ukraine totally to the west. As a Ukrainian, I support the entrance into NATO although I do question Yuschenko's methods and his ties. As far as the protests against *ush, any enemy of my enemy. . .

They have a hard enough time in the former Communist countries without falling for worthless "defense" alliances sponsored by the United States. Poland and the Czech republic do NOT need US missiles on their territory, and the Ukraine does NOT need to belong to a Cold War alliance that has no relevance in this century. What they DO need to do is to work on economic cooperation with their neighbors and emulate some of the policies that have made western countries like Spain, Ireland, and Norway leaders in human development.

As far as all the Communist banners shown in the protest, could it be that these are people who can remember having a decent job, instead of having to try to eke out a living selling cheap Chinese crap in an open air market?
