3. What a bizarre view of Jessica Lynch/ Lyndie England |
|
My impression was that the Whitehouse was pleased as punch to have the photogenic JL as the poster child for their war . . to the point that they were making up entire flights of fancy about her heroism and the dastardly Iraqis who had captured her. Also that the administration fought to keep the Abu G. photos under wraps as long as possible. I guess Karpinski is sensitive to those issues, after being scapegoated for A.G.
Also, what is the point of the strange story of Saddam's reading glasses? "Ha ha, we will get information out of him by first (secretly) replacing his glass lenses, and then swapping them back when he complains!" It's like out of the movie "Gaslight". I agree it's not torture, but do they think Saddam is so stupid that he will gain "trust" for the people who are fixing his glasses and not be able to figure out that they also sabotaged them? Weird.

4. This lady has gotten a bum rap. |
|
She was roasted for the abuses at Abu Graib when the unaccountable mercenaries were going wild with abusive techniques ordered from the higher ups.
She seems noticeably upset and probably rightfully so.
