4. I wonder if our esteemed administration and SOS have given this

situation as much careful thought as the SFRC apparently has.

It's clear that the Committee is aware of the ramifications of different actions, and realizes the need to work with other countries in the region to exact a workable solution. I

But will this admin listen to the recommendations?

What I've seen of this hearing has educated and informed me of all we DO need to consider to be able to implement our withdrawal.

5. This is definitely true and more people need to see the SFRC links

There is NO ONE on MSM accurately portraying the situation. That McCain could even THINK he could run on the surge being a success is incredible. It has to be people like Biden, Kerry, Hagel, Webb etc that get out there and give people the truth. The obvious frustration and concern of everyone - Republicans included - on this committee is incredible. Kerry and Biden, the two I've seen the most of before, never sounded so pessimistic - and both seem to be optimists at heart.

It really can't be Clinton or Obama because it would be taken as political and it would make it harder for them to win. Their role could then be simply to refer to what these guys are saying - and above all not trying to paint a rosy picture which doesn't exist.

15. Yes - Nearly all the Senators were doing an excellent job

even most of the Republicans. We had an open thread on the JK group for one of the hearing that was better for the presence of one of the Biden people I've tried to put the link up (for the archived video) on relevant threads. There is a major problem that this information is night and day from what is in the media. It is needed to put the HRC and Obama Iraq answers in context. At this point many are deluded that the surge is working - and unfortunately some Democrats have repeated that.

In 2004, Kerry wisely answered with what he would do at that moment when he was asked what he would do in January 2005 if President. He would answer that he didn't know what the situation would be, but if he were already President he would ..... This allowed him to give a knowledgeable rather than one that would need a million caveats (which we know he would have been forced by honesty to add).

It's unfortunate that he couldn't get more consideration for the presidency, but he sure has the smarts and the vision to be a truly great Secretary of State. I hope he gets considered for the post assuming that there'll be someone in the White House amenable to his candidacy.
