Maybe she's so tired she can't drum up the emotion...

I'm just asking where the poster is coming from. I seriously can't tell.

10. Geez, I thought that word was a no-no, but maybe only when applied to Hillary.
Ironic I say.

And look at the title in quotes. Its like the poster is feeling skeptical.

I wasn't even addressing you by the way. Why are you answering my question to someone else?

20. Me? I think she's full of it. She can go to hell with her crocodile tears
who cares what the so-called journalist trumpeted. I don't even care if she actually did throw her bookbag. she's the biggest two-faced fake I've even seen in politics (a world drenched with two-faced fakes) and after her non-response to Ferraro ("Well I don't agree" eff you Hillary, bait when it suits your purposes, sentimentalize when politically convenient, eff you Hillary) no one will ever convince me otherwise. And cry all you want journalist: there are millions of Americans that feel exactly this with good reason. I don't care if some self-righteous apologist like your first responder thinks otherwise, it's my opinion --- and yours --- and we're not only entitled to it, but making a reasonable conclusion based on the B.S. race-baiting coming out of her camp that has corrupted what could have been an historical, progressive healing election.

22. Hillary is not a racist....
Come on people. Hillary Clinton is not a racist.. as much as I really don't care for her anymore. Her problem is that her mind spins away at 200 MPH trying to calculate what people want so she can get elected. That is her problem. She's not genuine... she is always calculating her responses to everything rather than basing her responses and statements off of some deep belief at her core. I feel sorry for her because THAT is the reason people are turned off by her and her supporters. Has nothing to do with Obama supposedly playing dirty. Has everything to do with Hillary coming off as a phony.

They go by a play book that says, hey if it comes down to it call up the devil himself for help... call Dick Morris, Rupert Murdoch or Scaife if it helps push her objective forward. McCain and Obama at least have the appearance of trying to be straight shooters... although they obviously can't speak everything they feel either....

Hillary Clinton get off you high horse already!

35. what a bunch of bullshit.
I cannot let this ignorant post pass. The one manipulating race today is Obama. Using the shout of "Racism!" to win the nomination. It is despicable. But what is worse is the stupid Americans who just repeat the talking points as if fact. We have already been through eight years of someone telling us what to think with distortions and lies...Obama is continuing the tradition.

I guess I thought we learned our lesson.

40. tell me exactly how the Ferraro case was not racism
not just what Ferraro said, but the string of non-responses from both the Clinton campaign and Hillary herself. Be sure to connect this to her demand that Obama both denounce and reject Louis Farrakhan because of his own racist views.

Then tell me why she pledged to leave the Wright issue alone, and then goes on to hold a press conference to proclaim she would have left the church, you can't chose your family but you can chose your preacher.

Once you're done that, tell me how she's respond to incendiary statements by MLK that America is going to hell, that America has committed more war crimes than any other nation in the world, that he refused to tell young black men to put down their guns and their weaponry without speaking to the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today, America. Ask her to explain what's so horrifying about Wright that didn't prevent her from tearing up at MLK's pulpit as well.

Explain what wasn't racialist (I can be persuaded that it may not have been racist) about Bill Clinton's ridiculous remarks about Jesse Jackson also winning South Carolina twice, comments made for no other purpose than to diminish the victory of a black man in that state.

Come along, explain it all away; bunch of B.S. yourself.

42. there you go distorting what Clinton did...again.
She did not "hold a press conference to proclaim.." anything. She was asked a question and answered it truthfully. And why the hell shouldn't she answer the question? What the hell was he doing in a hate-filled church like that for 20 years? It was reasonable for her to respond. And it was unreasonable for him to be in that church.

What Ferraro said was not racist. Indeed, it was the Obama camp who pushed it and twisted it and attempted to milk it for all it was worth for the "poor man getting trashed by Clinton cause he is black."

Clinton disavowed it immediately. Your lie that she let it go is false.

Elizabeth Edwards said the same thing Ferraro did--with no one attacking her. Her husband gets no attention because he is not black nor a woman. That is what she said. And that is what Ferraro said.

Of course the reason they attack Clinton is because it is all politics with the media helping Obama.

Edited on Sat Apr-05-08 09:00 PM by mythyc
that answer of hers was as scripted as the tear-jerking in this video. "hate-filled" wright: you're the one that's full of something there. I won't even respond to this particular issue until you reply to this thread, or skinner's own on the same topic: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=5391338&mesg_id=5391338.

on Ferraro: what Ferraro said was racist. Let's say it again: what Ferraro said was racist. what Ferraro said was racist. what Ferraro said was racist. what Ferraro said was racist. what Ferraro said was racist. what Ferraro said was racist. what Ferraro said was racist. what Ferraro said was racist. what Ferraro said was racist. period.

you call this a disavowal eh-- Hillary's exact words: "I do not agree with that," and later added, "It's regrettable that any of our supporters _ on both sides, because we both have this experience _ say things that kind of veer off into the personal." Hedge all you want. Not agreeing is not disavowing. This was a member of her campaign and she should have rejected and denounced these comments immediately, and fired her on the spot. Now, tell me exactly what was "veering off into the personal" in Ferraro's hateful bigoted invective that Obama would not be doing as well if he wasn't a black man. There's zero personal content in that kind of a smear: it's all stereotyping based on identity, gee, last I heard, that's racism. If Hillary really "disavowed" Ferraro's comments, comments made by a representative of her campaign, she would not have accepted the content of a letter of resignation which instead of apologizing for its hatred and bigotry, whines "The Obama campaign is attacking me to hurt you. I won't let that happen." Instead, Hillary never says a single word on that, and silence is consent, particularly in that kind of situation.

You're blind. You distort. You let a bias for a candidate excuse tactics right out of the worst, propagandistic, divisive, Rovian playbook. You might as well say David Duke was an American hero, or that the Iran conference attempting to debunk the holocaust was legitimate and good scholarship. It's the kind of torques, skewed, hypocrisy you and your righteous Hillary indulge in, and I pity you. Keep it coming. Every time you reply here you prove yourself to be more of a tool.

44. Who would get MLK's vote?
Who would Martin Luther King support for president today?

By Weldon Burger

I ask who among our current-day political leaders Martin Luther King might support; the more appropriate question is who among them would have the courage to embrace a living King as eagerly as they drape themselves in the dead one's memory. I'm drawing a blank.

Much of the commentary on the anniversary of King's assassination focuses upon the direction he took in the last years of his life, speaking out against the Vietnam war specifically and state-sponsored violence in general, and attempting to broaden the movement that coalesced around him to include economically oppressed people of every color, not just the racially oppressed ones for whom he advocated so powerfully. He wanted to recast the political and social values of the country to the benefit not just of the disenfranchised here, but for those abroad who suffered from our own and similar military and corporate depredations.

Among the leading presidential contenders, only John Edwards brought even a fraction of King's outrage and conscience to bear on the economic inequalities that continue to plague and, in many ways, cripple the US. None of the candidates show any sign of feeling the grief and rage King would have felt at what we have done and continue doing to the people of Iraq: hundreds of thousands dead, millions displaced, millions more robbed of fathers and mothers and sisters and brothers, many millions more robbed of their livelihood, their security and any semblance of a normal life.

Can anyone imagine Martin Luther King failing to address the debt we've incurred to the Iraqis? or failing to note the uses to which the hundreds of billions of US dollars and tens of thousands of US lives thrown away on the occupation could have been put? or failing to speak out in the strongest possible terms against US policies of kidnapping, torture and perpetual detention beyond the rule of law?

And now, can you imagine Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama embracing what King would have to say? (Never mind John McCain ...)
