Watch Part 2 Here--->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBKeCIDGvwY">White Catholic priest defends Rev. Jeremiah Wright pt2

Former Pastor Jeremiah Wright is not a racist, he's not anti-American or a bigot according to those that know him. Catholic priest, Michael Pfleger, is the lastest person to speak out in defense of the reverand following the firestorm of controversy generated by mainstream media. Pfleger speaks of the double standard in media coverage based on race, and racial injustices that still exist today in America. A couple of things here are worth noting:

- 9/11 sermon by pastor Wright (yes, Fox News LIED about this, see it in context).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOdlnzkeoyQ

- Former Minnesota Governor, Jesse Ventura, recently said some comments that could be labeled anti-American, hateful, and anti-white. But the media has largely ignored that, even though he compared America to Nazi Germany.

- Hillary Clinton's former pastor, Dean Snyder, defended Rev. Wright

- Conservative Republican and former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee defended Rev. Wright.

- Fox New's Sean Hannity, who widely pushed the Wright story, was long time friends with neo-Nazi shock jock radio host, Hal Turner, a fierce, proud and open racist.

- Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was also critical of US government policy (the Vietnam War), social injustice and racism in America. At times he was demonized by media in his time as an anti-American communist, an evil hypocrit, and a demagogue.

- Neither Bill O'reilly, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Karl Rove or Glenn Beck has ever enlisted in US military service. But they've all slammed Rev. Jeremiah Wright as a hater of America. Reverand Wright did serve in the military as a marine, not long after integration of the military. Wright also attended to former President Lydon B. Johnson, and was a guest of Bill Clinton in the White House.

For the record, Karl Rove, who might come under criminal investigation now for interference with our justice system, had several deferments to help him dodge the draft. Beck has a history of drug abuse and alcoholism. Hannity is a high school graduate and former construction worker and bartender. Limbaugh is a college dropout, thrice divorced, with a history with drugs who recently encouraged listeners to break the law to corrupt democratic primaries and "bloody" Barack Obama.

2. Many people are un-aware of the Catholic Church's long standing Social Justice teachings.
Edited on Mon Apr-07-08 01:12 PM by patrice
What with popular interest in demonizing the Catholic Church (and as a fallen Catholic I can tell you that I am intimately aware of its Sins, moral and otherwise) some things that the RC church does are completely forgotten.

I was named after a populist Catholic priest who preached Social Justice adamantly from the pulpit back in 1940s SE Kansas.

Catholic Worker House was out in the streets taking a stand for the children that Bill Clinton and his predecessors were starving in Iraq long before yuppies like me showed up in 2002 angry and pissed off about Cheney's War.

3. Boy! Where can we find some more of him...

That's what I'm talking about, know one ever tells the real truth, people just listen to sound bites without researching what is really being told. Everytime the rightwing throws something out there we should be knocking it down on the internet and elsewhere.

We have too many resources to let them keep getting away with destroying this country and winning another election..(not that they have won the last two and maybe even more)I am surprised after each election that they steal that the people haven't woken up fully. We have so much information to choose from we can bring up things from the beginning of 2000 and beyond...If they win/steal this election this time I really do believe that this will be the end of this country...

4. He said the same thing I told a co-worker who was leaning O'bama
then another co-worker was making hay about the Wright thing and she said she was unsure. I asked her how she would feel if say someone had a video clip of her getting topless at a bar one night and was flipping everyone off, how about if I showed that to someone over and over for 3 days and then they met you? Disregard the fact that this person grew into a good mother and a hard worker, your just some skank at a bar...right? Needless to say she thought it was a good point.

This guy was a pastor for over 30 years, a marine, and well respected by politicians and leaders of multiple faiths, but 3 minutes looped over and over for days makes him an asshole.

5. Another defense of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright:
A friend sent me this link from CNN's Anderson Cooper blog: The full story behind Rev. Jeremiah Wright's 9/11 Sermon

As this whole sordid episode regarding the sermons of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright has played out over the last week, I wanted to understand what he ACTUALLY said in this speech. I’ve been saying all week on CNN that context is important, and I just wanted to know what the heck is going on.

I have now actually listened to the sermon Rev. Wright gave after September 11 titled, “The Day of Jerusalem’s Fall.” It was delivered on Sept. 16, 2001.

One of the most controversial statements in this sermon was when he mentioned “chickens coming home to roost.” He was actually quoting Edward Peck, former U.S. Ambassador to Iraq and deputy director of President Reagan’s terrorism task force, who was speaking on FOX News. That’s what he told the congregation.

7. Anyone who also goes to Conservative forums
should also note that Michael Steele defended Barack Obama and his allegiance to his pastor. It was on one of the Sunday shows, I believe. Sorry, I don't remember the show. The transcript can probably be found. I noticed it because I heard a conservative praising Michael Steele as a worthy candidate compared to Obama, and saw the irony in Steele's defending Obama.

9. Please tell me they played this interview on the pravda network?!?!
Highly unlikely. This man did a fantastic job of pointing out the real game that is being played by pravda and they other tabloid news agencies. This little prick just couldn't stick him, and he made the little prick look like one misinformed, narrow minded dumb ass...which pretty much fits him, imho.

10. IMPRESSIVE
This guy is damn good, Better than about 95% of the professional pols out there, as far as debating skills goes. In the fact based category, anyway. And he's light years ahead of what constitutes an average MSM journalist these days, too.

Keith should do some satellite with this guy. He's as quick and well informed as Rachel Maddow!

11. It is so refreshing to hear someone speak the truth for so long and so well about what Fox does.
It is also hard to believe that this actually appeared on the Fox News web site.

I have seen some other damning pieces from time to time on their web site. It is almost as if they do not know how to control their own internet presence. It is so much easier to control the message with television. I think that they attempt use the internet to go "in-depth" from time to time. I think that I have heard O'Reilly mention that this or that interview appears (or will appear) in its entirety on the web site. He says things like that to bolster his argument that he isn't just showing a highly selective sound bite on his program. It doesn't work out because showing the entire interview makes it much harder to control the message and only tends to reveal the truth. He probably thinks that most people who watch his show will not bother to check it out -- and he is probably safe in that assumption.

12. That's right he let the Rev speak for over 10 minutes and the interviewer's
talking points got him nowhere and it seems that they didn't edit it.
