1. I lived in Lebanon from '64 to '75

(when I was a kid - my dad was a professor at AUB). I still remember most of the national anthem - thanks for posting this, it was a nice reminder. I forwarded it to my family, I think they'll like it, too.

3. Yeah, Beirut was considered

the Paris of the Middle East in the 60's. And it was one of the more progressive of the Arab countries. Unfortunately there was a rotten core underneath resulting from (what else) European colonialism which blew up. Depressing.
