Peter Brown - TV producer on Sea Shepherd during Antarctic Whales Sanctuary Campaign. The drama will be part of a show called "Whale Wars" on the Animal Planet cable network this fall.


The 56-year-old Eastham native is a television producer, cinematographer and cameraman who has volunteered for Sea Shepherd for 26 years. He was the first mate on the Sea Shepherd vessel Steve Irwin in January, when two of its crewmen boarded a Japanese whaling vessel without permission and were held on the ship for two days.

Now let's sit back and wait for the inevitable whining about how the Sea Shepherd is a "violent" "terrorist" organization. Most threads relating to Paul Watson and crew seem to go down that rabbit hole eventually.

Even here on DU it seems that some people's gut instinct is to side with corporate criminals rather than side with humans taking direct action. I reckon that some folks are just scared by the notion that anyone would be empowered enough to stand up and do something like this.

4. I know what you mean

You hear people saying things like, Sorry SSCS, can't win this one. The big bad government has the law book and rule book on their side. And they don't talk at all about the whales or seals involved.

I think it has to do with military mindset. Where people love to see blood-fests and the smaller guy go down. If you appeal to their conscience, they get nutso, because they don't want to be held accountable for their own apathy.
