Elizabeth Edwards discusses why she prefers Hillary Clinton's health care plan & why an endorsement is perhaps not the most valuable thing she or John have to offer either candidate.

1. very misleading post -- she WASN'T endorsing ANYONE
and she felt that what was most important was what both she and John had learned about the healthcare needs of the country is from the people they TALKED to on the campaign trail.

Bad try to spin this into the *endorsement* of either Hillary or Obama.

4. Where does the OP say she was endorsing anyone?
You might want to read it again.

6. No spin here -- My headline refers to the "IMPORTANCE of Endorsement"
Read the title again -- I'm simply quoting Elizabeth Edwards when she states at the end that she doubts either her or John's endorsement is very important to either Clinton or Obama. Instead, she feels that she and John might have a more important role to play by discussing the issues (such as health care) and how they might be effectively enacted into public policy.

2. Like... uh... who cares what you think? Given that both...
you and John don't even have the courage of your true convictions to endorse either one of the remaining candidates. You hint and hint and hint some more but you don't get off of the proverbial pot.

I like both John and Elizabeth but they are largely irrelevant at this point. To my dismay they are still talking but who cares what they are saying? Not me. John has acted like the quintessential politician with his votes on war and bankruptcy and his flights of fancy about ridding the world of poverty. "I will fight for you! This is personal!" "Just" words. No action! His votes undermine his core beliefs and so that leads me to but one conclusion. He's fighting for no one but his own viability, he's fighting to be the politician for another day in the spotlight. And Elizabeth, please... stop acting as though Healthcare is the only relevant issue in the universe. Did you remember that your husband and Clinton both voted for THIS WAR? Maybe you forgot or you thought everyone else did but guess what? I didn't! A potential 4000 Americans won't get that universal healthcare you want because your husband used his vote for political expediency. In the words of many, anyone who uses a life and death cause as a political calculus is too stupid to be the commander in chief. That vote was the threshold.

3. Why should they endorse?
It's always been about the issues with them and neither of the two remaining candidates are speaking of the issues, they are battling each other. How else is this issue going to stay in the forefront? A hope and a prayer that the new administration is going to push it? Good luck with that. A lot of people care what Elizabeth Edwards thinks, both her and John are the only true progressive voice of the Dem party.
