Senator Barack Obama, campaigning in Indiana, stopped by Nick's English Hut. One of the top sports bars in the country, this 80 year-old establishment is a must stop for anyone passing through the college town of Bloomington, Indiana. The background music includes the Indiana University Alma Mater and "Indiana Our Indiana" by the Indiana University Marching Hundred, Hoagy Carmichael"s "Can't get Indiana Off My Mind" and "Come Easy, Go Easy, Love" by Al Cobine's big Band and Gary Portnoy's theme from "Cheers", "Everybody Knows Your Name".

1. Nick's IS famous, but God knows why

The beer is warm, the food is about the worst in Indiana, and it is stuffy and full of high school kids with fake ids.

At least Obama would brighten the place up.

9. What??? Nick's food is awesome!

I will give you the benefit of the doubt that it must have been a long time since you last dined at Nick's. The food is superb, mostly from local farms and much of it organic. And I have been going to Nick's for quite some time and the beer has ALWAYS been cold! I think Nick's has a lot of character and so do a lot of other people. It is locally-owned and not a chain restaurant and it treats its customers and employees quite well. And now it can boast that the future president walked through its aisles! YAY!!

I got to shake his hand at the Women's Little 500 just before he went to Nick's (and it was a thrill.) I left the race early and went back to the Sample Gates because I heard he was coming there. 150 people or so were waiting there, but he left town after the visit to Nick's.
