9. Not only a bad idea....
...but illegal if you're on the Do Not Call registry. I think it was a bad call (pardon the pun) to institute robo-calls on behalf of Obama.

We intelligent people know what Obama was trying to say to us but was misconstrued by those that are looking for any 'chink' in his armor on which to attack him.

Looks like this Independent will be voting for Obama as Clinton his gotten of CURRENT issues and instead has chosen to dedicate the majority of the remaining time working the smear campaign to the max.

"Sitting in the duck blind with he grand pappy and shooting at ducks" contradicts her stance on guns and hence, she's trying desperately to fool the voters because she things we are all simple minded dolts.

I held out hope she would get back to the issues at hand for our country and what we as Americans are facing at the BACKBONE level. It is US that make this country run, not those that sit in high houses looking down upon us. She wouldn't know what 'struggling' is in this new day and time.

While I am living paycheck to paycheck, tending to myself and my family, especially my son who is disabled, not once in all these years has ANYONE in Congress bothered to take the time and reflect that we are the ones that should be taken care of. All those millions and billions going elsewhere in the world to help other country's citizen and we barely get any scraps from OUR tax dollars that WE PAY?

Time for a change.

The changing of the guard(s) is at hand and Obama will be our guide!

Next up: Pelosi and Reid HAS to go. Being an enabler and showing cowardice are not what We The People are about.

11. It's not illegal.
If I register my number on the National Do Not Call Registry, will it stop all telemarketing calls?

No. Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all. Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you’ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls.

Are calls from political organizations or calls soliciting for charities covered?

Political solicitations are not covered by the TSR at all, since they are not included in its definition of “telemarketing.” Charities are not covered by the requirements of the national registry. However, if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls from, or on behalf of, that specific charity. If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $11,000.

10. If you want to lose my vote, start making robo calls
I hate robo calls and don't respond well to them

I got a robo call from the right-wing state senator in CA who is trying to ban same-sex marriage. He wanted to send me a petition to he could get the hate measure on the ballot. I pressed "1" and they said they'd send me a petition. They did.

I shredded their petition, but then I printed out a list of all Republican pedophiles

http://www.armchairsubversive.org/

and I stuffed it into the envelope and sent it back. I wrote on it -- Protect children, protect marriage, ban Republicans.

12. Robo calls simply do not work
Yes, as noted above political robo calls are exempt from the do not call registry.

No, they do not work (See Drs. Green and Gerber's book on GOTV published by Brookings)
http://www.brookings.edu/press/Books/2008/getoutthevotesecondedition.aspx

I founded a non-partisan group to reduce political robo calls and we have seen remarkable success in only 6 months with 5 politicians taking the 'do not robo call' pledge and one robo call firm as well.

Robo calls backfire on candidates and are not a positive form of participatory Democracy.
