These goofballs who are so "worried" about Oprah should do what I just did....turn it OFF if they don't like it!

24. Well, not because Oprah endorsed Obama, but I always thought she was full of shit.
Every time I caught the show, she was telling mothers how to raise their kids (like she's had a half dozen of her own...not), couples how to fix their marriages (while she trotted around unfettered by a spouse with that perpetually hapless and closeted puppydog Stedman) and she'd "empathize" about "ordinary folks' woes" like rising expenses and prices of goods and services while wearing an outfit that cost more than the average nursing home caregiver (one of the most important and underpaid jobs in the nation) makes in a year.

I found her didactic, superficial and insincere for many years now, and she's done nothing to change my opinion.

People are free to do that New Age Bullshit, if they'd like, and others are also free to call it what it is--crap and pap. When regular people find that it's hard, because of gas prices and rising costs, to afford the "journey" to work every day, it's rather obnoxious to hear The Oprah crowd whining about their own idiotic little "spiritual journeys." It is absurd, it is self-indulgent, and it is indicative of a genuine disconnect between segments of our society.

That YOUTUBE tape is ghastly, too. Like I said, I can't abide Oprah, but I solve that problem with the remote--one click, and off she goes! I think these folks who are all worried about her and her stupid "religion" should do what I do -- pick up that remote and go CLICK! Apparently, some are--I heard on the tee vee that her popularity is tanking of late. Maybe she should just pack it in, and do something else for a change. She's rich enough to not have to work...

7. I don't get Oprah's agenda and turn her off.
She was an activist but now seems to be into "spiritual books", etc.

Any Christian that somehow feels threatened by this ... their faith isn't nearly as strong as they think it is.
I didn't hear Oprah say anything that I didn't hear in Catholic school.

10. I got this last week from a RW friend, and the purpose is to tie Obama
in with this so-called new religion of Oprah Winfrey. It was also being sent with Obama/Muslim/Islam crap. We are going to be taken over if Obama gets into office.

It is nothing more than Repig propaganda. Get used to it, as it is going to be raining down upon our heads.

You put two Religious zealots together, Oprah and Obama and you've got a cult.

If you think I'm voting for a cultist for president, you're crazy.

11. It took Oprah until she was about 27 to realize
something was off about the teachings of Christianity?

I'm glad she did finally realize it, but I realized this when I was about 8 years old.

We were singing "Jesus Loves the little children, all the children in the world..." and then a Sunday School teacher was telling me that because children in other countries did not believe in the Jesus story, children who had never heard it, they would be damned to an eternal hell.

Those two things were so totally incongruent that I pretty much questioned it all after that.

28. I've never heard that
I've always heard you go to hell if you know the story of Christ's undying love for us, and refuse it, not that just not hearing it would send you to hell... that's ridiculous. And certainly not the compassionate Christ I believe He truly is. But, you're right - those two things are totally at odds with one another, and I don't believe that is how any god would have things set up if creation is how most people believe it.

18. I'm not committed to anyone, but I know this. I despise Oprah.
A friend's marriage broke up because of one of her shows. They were having trouble and the wife happened upon a show that featured the problem they were having. Oprah said that at some point you have to give up, so the wife did as the great and powerful Oprah said to do.

Years later they reunited, blaming Oprah for flaming the wife's emotions. Good for them.

Also, a woman I work with was in the audience for a show. They are VERY selective about their audience. They tend to HIDE people of color and "ugly" people in the rafters. She also witnessed Oprah scream at an aide.

That being said, I would vote for Obama, but not because this dictator said to.

20. oprah also talks about personal responsiblity. lol lol. i tend to agree
good for your friends to be able to pin all the anguish on a distant oprah unstead where it belongs, if it workd for them. but it also allows the issue/problem to be buried, not taking personal responsibility.

i personally do not watch oprah. got pissed with the whole arnie and 2004 election. so not a defender of her, but am a defender of personal responsibility

19. bah hahaha... omg... lol. she is looking for peace, love, connection to god
not a single issue with aything she said and i am a christian and think it falls in perfectly with christ....

god is

once one truly feels, knows those words, it all so easily makes sense.

and for those that dont believe god, energy, lite.... whatever.

as she says, many different ways. if god is in all things, he is in all these different ways for the story to be heard, animals, children, nature, books, art dance music goes on and on.... connection. one

but it is funny how scared they run. cause in essense theres is to hold on tight to religion, control, mney and power, and this takes that need away to truly know. there is a place in bible where christ says exactly this needs to be
