The Difference Between Tough and Inappropriate Questions
By Cenk Uygur

ABC has been hiding behind the shell of "we were just asking tough questions" in response to their questionable performance in the Pennsylvania debate. But to see how transparently false that claim is you only have to think about this "tough" question: When did you stop beating your wife?

Now, that's a tough question, partly because it is grossly unfair, partly because it's an ugly insinuation and partly because it's structured in a way where there is no good answer. That doesn't make it a good question.

Nobody is asking ABC or anyone else to play patty-cakes with these nominees. In fact, I don't think they ask nearly tough enough questions of the Republicans, or the Democrats.

Here's a tough but fair question for John McCain...(For the rest of Cenk's article on this topic, click here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=5584597&mesg_id=5584597

1. Hillary needs an intervention I'm afraid
Somebody call the people at A&E and get her to meet with her friends and family in a motel somewhere and talk about it.

2. Cenk is right on the money again!
It is fantastic how he points out the difference between a good tough question and a bad and stupid tough question. He is also completely right about how Hillary used to have some really good substance to her before she went so negative but now it is just hard to listen. She really is incredibly grating!

9. Exactly
And he's 100% right, 0% wrong on the grating thing. I admit Hillary was never a top choice for me, but I never had anything *personal* against her.

Since she's gone negative, I've found it increasingly hard to watch her without feeling enraged and or nauseous (or some combination of the two). Maybe disgusted and incredulous would work here too. It's just really disappointing.

3. I think Hillary can tell the difference
She just thinks the rest of can't.

She thinks she knows better than the rest of us. We've have almost eight years of that from Bush. Frankly, I'm tired of it.

By the way, it's called elitism.

4. LOL on the "tough questions" -- Obama didn't find them tough, just stupid and irrelevant.
Hillary is really out of touch. REALLY out. Really. TRULY, really.

12. She's not out of touch. She's very much on the ball.
She's just wildly dishonest.

16. I don't think she's on the ball when it comes to the majority of the people.
That's where I think she's out of touch. I think she's in touch with the nasty old ways of doing things. Her wild dishonesty is with her own self, as far as I can tell.

14. She keeps saying "tough questions", "tough questions".
Hillary! Listen to me! They were stupid, idiotic questions. Not tough. Stupid. Not tough. Stupid. Do you get it?? Please stop talking about "tough questions" and misrepresenting what Obama says. Please.

11. What is Hillary Doing?
What is Hillary doing, and why is she doing it? All right, you hit a ground ball to the infield, you run it out. Fair enough. But the kitchen sink strategy has become annoying. Take the high road, Hillary - it won't kill you.

Maybe there's some terrible revelation about Obama between now and the convention. Hillary knows about it, Obama knows about it, and possibly a few others. Maybe Hillary's staying in just to be available when Obama resigns. This is just a speculation. I really can't explain Hillary's behavior.

I never was all that enthusiastic about Hillary. Now I'm starting to despise her.

13. Maybe someday I'll disagree with what Cenk has to say, but it's not today
I don't know if there's another person in the media today that I agree with on a more regular basis. It's pretty close between him and Rachel Maddow.

15. Everybody misses the big issue with this interview.
It is the fact that Clinton is lying about the statements made by Obama about the debate.

Obama did NOT complain about the toughness of the questions.

He was complaining about the fact that these questions were not about issues the people care about.

So, forget about whether or not these were tough or unfair questions. That is just a side-issue.

The big issue is that she is lying again.

(I normally only read and don't post on this website, but I just had the urge to point out this obvious fact.)
