When I first saw the vid, I thought it might have been just Obama unthinkingly scratching. Quite often, I push my glasses up with my middle finger with no intention of "flipping off" anyone. Then I read the link to the frame by frame breakdown (yeah, some people have too much time on their hands).

It was a juvenile trick, not worthy of someone who is the front runner for the nomination.

It may cost him some votes... As someone who grew up in Pennsyvania farm country and who still has most of my relatives living there, I can tell you that sort of prank is seriously frowned on.

It seems that they are two different events with the same background. The people behind Obama in the video are different from the people behind him in the frame by frame anaylis. (Those photos are pretty convincing and are what induced me to post the video.)

Your photo could be from either one of those events or from a different one.

Perhaps it is just a characteristic gesture of his. I don't know.

So, I may have been manipulated by some slick bait and switch. At any rate, the benefit of the doubt goes to Obama.

I had always respected Make Them Accountable in the past as a place to get the facts and good analysis. But then, I used to respect many people on DU as giving thoughtful anaylsis but have found them not so much thoughtful as reactionary about their chosen candidate or issue.

It came from a book by Fred Mustard Stewart from about 25 or so years ago. Long before the Internet was a big thing.

The video is only a smear if the event didn't happen. Someone on this thread said it was a photo shop...but didn't bother to give a link to the "original" video. If it is photoshopped, then I will apologise for passing on the vid.
