This was around 4:30p EDT, I think. A little later, Matthews came on and tried to push the meme on Bill Clinton, but even his panel was reluctant to play along.

Schuster is hardly someone in the Clinton camp. He has been very, very critical.

From my viewpoint as an Edwards supporter, it always seemed obvious that Obama was using race, just as he was using RW talking points against Boomers from the very beginning and was directly promoting himself as the heir to Camelot. Masterfully done. Does not hold up well to fact checking, but sounded good. Sort of like the stories of his family and of himself.

Various stories on Obama's family have been published over the years. Every time a new one appears, I feel less sure what the real story might be. Most of his biography has been based upon his own version of things, mostly as presented in his two books:

"Obama is the son of a poor Kenyan goat-herding father brought to the US to attend college and the white woman from Kansas who he met in college in Hawaii. His father left them and returned to Kenya. Obama was raised by his single mom and her parents."

Lots of things are glossed over: His father left a wife and two children in Kenya when he came to the US as an exchange student and had two more children by her later plus three other children by two other women, one a student he met at Harvard; his father "Dr." Obama did not get a PhD, but his mother did get a PhD in anthropology; his mother was born in Kansas but went to middle and high school near Seattle and thought herself a radical and was only 17 when she met Obama Sr.; his grandmother who helped raise him was a senior VP at a bank in Hawaii.

Obama's "Joshua" speech as given in Selma last year was particularly misleading, implying that his very existence was due to people bringing his father from Kenya following the Selma march. This was impossible for several reasons, the most obvious being that Obama was born several years before the Selma march.

Try searching for his stepmother and you will find discussions of a lot of this. Kezia Obama

She now lives in the UK with many of her children. BTW grandmother Sarah in Kenya is one of his grandfather's other wives.
