3. Wow....of course the real question is why was that an issue in the first place... |
|
...or is NC just chock-a-block full of rascists and KLukers?

12. I heard that until just the past few years |
|
the town down the road from me had a sign proudly touting its KKK origins.

6. that's appalling--I'm so disappointed in Richard Moore |
|
Bev Perdue is no supporter of the KKK. Perhaps she didn't want to give the SBI _more_ overall authority?
I can't friggin believe he did that. It's beneath him. That he approved such a strategically stupid and unethical potshot means he just lost my vote.

7. the bill was for investigative authority of all "hate groups" |
|
which could include, through a broad definition, a lot of people who post here.
It was not specifically an anti-KKK bill, as I understand it.
I wish folks would become a little more enlightened about North Carolina. The Research Triangle was decades ahead of its time. The qualifications and accomplishments of the people I've run into at receptions, cafes, my daughters' _schools_, and on walking trails simply in the past month read like an international who's who. (I'm just a slob who's fortunate enough to live here.) Please stop with the Bull Conner stereotypes.

8. Ms. Purdue still voted against it right? |
|
I don't really see how the bill not being specifically against the KKK but against all hate groups (which was mentioned in the audio) makes the vote against it any less odious.

13. I was disappointed it was |
|
blatantly playing on emotions and unfairly painted Perdue as a complacent racist (for lack of a better term).
I'm leaning toward Moore, but I agree that Perdue isn't a KKK supporter. It was a pretty ugly ad.

9. The NC GOP ad is discredited |

Even if it runs, we have done a good job exposing how hateful its message is.

11. Is the headline's extrapolation that attacking a Dem who "appears" to |
|
support the KKK, an answer to the Wright "controversy"?
I'm working at what your headline says... NC responds to Wright Ad.
The GOP's Wright Ad = look at the nutcase black racist crazy person (sorry.. I soooo don't think so but that's THE AD)
This NC Dem Ad = look at the nutcase white racist crazy person supporting the KKK
Is this how you figured it???
The whole thing is so sad. For years white people have said stuff like, "We solved the race issue. There is no more rascism." I guess not, huh?
Personally, my mama taught me that we are ALL God's children. I've never thought any other way. So, I have such a hard time even considering that some people, who profess to be religious, are deeply ingrained racists (of any color).
Yes, this whole thing is sad. I loved Obama's speech about race. So did everyone at the time. What happened?
