strategies. They did this with Iraq. They tried to do that with Iran. They are doing it with Syria.
My theory: the announcement about Syria is a diversion -- a distraction for the American press and the American people. While we are focused on these allegations about Syria which, if they ever were true, are no longer relevant since the facility in question has long since been destroyed.
The real action is going on in the gulf near Iran. The conflict going on there, the firing on the Iranian vessel by one of our contract vessels is the real problem. Is the Bush administration acting so as to elicit a reaction by Iran that will then justify a war? I don't know, but I've seen the Bush administration do this kind of football play with war games that aren't games but are for real before. When all else fails, the Republicans start a war to get our patriotic juices going. By the time we (and members of Congress) figure their play out, we are knee deep in you know what.
This is the presidential campaign strategy for the Republicans this year. And I, as a true patriot, feel so sad. I love my country, but I hate to see us dragged into war this way. The Constitution clearly states that only Congress can declare war. If the Bush administration is starting a war and dragging us into it, I blame Congress for not listening to the cries of loyal Americans demanding the impeachment of Bush and Cheney -- and months, and months ago. How do these idiots think they are going to fight a war against Iran? As we are seeing in Iraq, bomb bomb bombing other countries doesn't change much.

4. Nothing this administration says should be taken at face value |
|
I can understand reporters at the White House being diplomatic and saying "the administration got it wrong" on Iraq, but the fact is the junta didn't get it wrong, they lied and used the intelligence agencies as fall guys.
It should bother us that the junta has no credibility. I believe there should be no further authorization for wars or funding for wars until a new team is in power, one willing to level with Congress and the American people about what is going on.
If Messrs. Bush and Cheney want a war, they will have to resign. If Congress thinks a war is necessary, they should impeach and remove the junta in order to put somebody more trustworthy in power to tell us that it is necessary and why.

7. shorter Parino press briefing: |

"I won't answer any of your questions now, let's wait till next time when I won't answer them then either."
What is the point of even attending the WH Press Conferences? They never tell the truth, and any information...sorry, DIS-information they want to present goes to Faux anyhow.

9. Funny how we never got around to dealing with the "Axis of evil" |
|
We pissed away all of our resources in the one country that was well under control with an aggressive sanctions program, ongoing inspections, no-fly zones etc.
We invaded the one country that absolutely wasn't involved with 911 and absolutely wasn't a threat to the US or anybody else at that point.
Talk about the gang that couldn't shoot straight.
