3. Obama WILL end the war in Iraq |
He has a 16-month withdrawal plan. It won't just happen overnight. So we will still have the war for 16 months because we must protect our troops while we are withdrawing.

5. then he should say so. |
i'm not hearing anybody talking about ending the war any more. anyway don't sweat it. i'll vote for obama. he's the best choice left.
a woman at work thinks the war has to end. it makes sense, given the overextended military situation. but really it does bother me that nobody's talking about it in unequivocal terms. that hurts.

6. OK, but he HAS said he will end the war in Iraq |
He's detailed it as a 16-month withdrawal plan of 1 to 2 brigades per month. You have to realize that we have almost 150,000 troops there and Dubya won't be withdrawing any before he leaves. The troops are spread out all over various parts of the country, so it won't happen overnight, but 16 months is the assessment he's been given by military officials as the fastest pace he can withdraw the troops safely. As Barack Obama puts it, "We have to be as careful getting out as we were careless getting in."

13. Cherry-picking states and taxes on gas |
Now I see why Obama doesn't want to debate. He can just hold news conferences where reporters ask important questions instead of stupid gotcha questions and then he can answer them. The only purpose of a debate is to give your opponent an opportunity to level an unfair attack on you and to make money for the network hosting the debate. I liked how he pointed out to that one reporter that he was cherry-picking states. Hillary talking points at its best. I also thought that his answer on the federal tax on gas prices was wonderful. As soon as this question comes up in a 1-on-1 debate with John McCain, the American people will see McCain for the fool that he is.
