5. Beautiful, Beautiful
Those kids were so excited - I don't think it'll happen, but if the nomination is stolen from Obama there'll be hell to pay by the Democratic Party.

6. Awesome. A great approach to get young voters to register.
He is truly in his element. Recruiting youth. A game he physically excels in -- enough of the bowling, beer and bingo audience!
Enough of the Bush junior falling off his bicycle. This works on so many levels.

Try and trash THAT, Joe and Tweety.

10. Well, but could he seal the deal? Hrumph
OK, maybe he registered some voters.

Maybe he inspired some young people to get engaged in civics.

Maybe his event drew thousands of people who also heard his message of where he wants to take this country.

But really, how many points did he score?

It’s Hoops for Votes in Indiana

By Jeff Zeleny

...

"The winner in the high school division, Black Hancock, and in the college division, Kory McKay, brought along a few friends and played with Mr. Obama tonight. It was the first time during the presidential campaign that Mr. Obama has opened his basketball game up to network cameras, photographers and reporters."

The student's name is BLAKE. And I saw the video of Obama playing in N.C. with the Marines and the interview with Gumbel right here on DU.

Talk about your Freudian copy slips...

Nice catch on the HBO piece. These reporters do just make it up as they go along sometimes.

21. They fixed his name but didn't post my comment to them about it.
Such is the nature of online news.

18. It's possible that they're differentiating "network" news cameras from HBO/cable cameras ...
... which is a petty difference. Nice catch on the name. Yikes!

12. This is change we can believe in.
Imagine registering 180 new voters! If not for Sen. Obama, he probably would have improved his game on the basketball court, but instead he improved the game for all freedom loving people by registering voters. K&R! GObama! :kick:

13. Let's see McCain, bush, or Hillary get out and "run with" some young studs
Now how is the media going to try and spin this?

Obama just picked up tons of more votes.

14. I liked the HBO Real Sports piece better
We didn't really get to see him handle the ball much here. He's got some real game, but you didn't really see it in this clip.

people in the MSM told him to stick to shooting hoops. I guess he got the memo.
