it's just a shame that his reasonable explanations and lucid thoughts on the complexities of religion and oppression can't enjoy the same publicity as the 20 secs of sound bytes that the media has chosen to reduce his life to.
edit: never skip spellcheck :)

11. Indeed. Why isn't this all over the news. A voice of reason in a wilderness of spin. |
|
PS. Firefox browser now spell checks in text boxes.
Now, if only the subject box had visible-size font!!

7. I'm not religous in any sense myself, but Rev. Jeremiah Wright is a very good man. Enough said! |

9. "The chickens are coming home to roost" |

I found that segment to be very uplifting. Jerimiah Wright sure is a smart man.
In Wright's speech after 9/11/01, he cited all of the killing our government did -- and all without a care. I don't think Hiroshima and Nagasaki should have been on that list. Our country did and has been agonizing about that decision.

14. If you don't like 9/11, you don't like war. |
|
What was most amazing is the popularity of bellicosity, on the one hand, and the disconnect that 9/11 was bellicosity, on the other.
If you wish 9/11 had not happened, you oppose war!! Why didn't that sink in?

15. He could have cited the firebombings of Dresden and Tokyo, though. |
|
Not many people seem to talk about those.

16. America firebombed Dresden because we wanted the Soviets to see what our air power can do |
|
...not for strategic reasons. Air Marshall Curtis Lemay (and others) knew that the Soviet Army would soon overtake that eastern city and he was already thinking toward our next global rivalry.
British Air Marshall "Bomber" Harris was reviled in Britain after the war for directing bombing German civilians.
Lemay went on to run for US President on the "Dixiecrat" ticket. The Dixiecrats had some populist appeal, but their issue was segregation. I will take the liberty of naming them the "American Fascist Party".
(Note: I took some liberty with the term "Air Marshall")
