Yesterday, CNN’s Michael Ware dismissed Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) recent assertion that Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) travel to Iraq in order to get a better sense of the war. Ware said that U.S. officials’ trips to Iraq are usually “divorced from reality” adding that its “impossible” to “get much of a real picture.” Ware then noted that McCain’s own trips to Iraq have not helped him get a sense of the realities in Iraq:

WARE: I’ll issue a word of caution, too. I mean Senator McCain has been here, what, more than half a dozen times. And we’ve seen him get assessments of Iraq terribly wrong. So I wouldn’t be hanging my hat on the fact that your opponent has only been here once.

While McCain said that he’d “be glad to go” with Obama to Iraq, a Washington Post reporter noted yesterday that there is “no way” the Secret Service would agree to McCain’s plan.

3. BIG K & R for some (rare) sense in the mainstream media
I watched a little Hardball yesterday and all three of the buffoonish panel talked about what a great move this was for McCain and how Obama can only look bad.

I was especially annoyed at the idea that Obama would have to concede things are going well in Iraq (as if less troop deaths is the goal of the current occupation).

4. I really trust Michael Ware on Iraq
if he says its going well, I will trust him on that, too. He was one of the few being brutally honest on this issue.

6. Just a waste of time
All that tax payer money, spent for McCain to vist the Green Zone , hundred of soliders to walk with him and he still can't get it right, and this thing with the RNC about IRAQ and Sen. Obama, The Daily show had a great peice on John McCain Sen. Obama hadn't wore a military uniform, so the daily show start putting up picture of all the Republicans who did not serve in the military, it was so funny.

7. Recommended - Senator Obama should NOT go there before the election...
It's not the Iraqis or al Qaeda I'm worried about. It's the Blackwater guards that would likely be escorting him that scare me!:scared::grr:

8. McCain's claim - 870 something days since Barack Obama visited Iraq ...
Hmm ... approximately 14000 days since Bush was supposed to report to Vietnam ...

9. Someone needs to find that picture of McCain with his lead vest on
and surrounded by the army with the quote "Things are safe and looking good from my experience". This is such a joke. The best way to figure out what is going on over there is to send in under cover agents and get the real story from all over Iraq not a birdseye view surrounded by the army for photo opps. McCain didn't even know who was fighting who while he was over there. You know when Obama does get over there that he will know the history and will be able to talk and investigate intelligently!

10. Yep...
Lead vest and his security contingent and the cost of that visit flashing in the corner of the screen.
Follow that up with his mangling his declaration of his experience and distorted statement of how safe it is over there.
Then show Michael Wares' statement of the number of McCain's visit and how he was consistently wrong about the conditions there.

This commercial should run constantly in every media market in the country.

11. I say, "Hell no, don't go;"
ANYTHING can happen in a war zone. There is an army within the official one and I for one do not relish having Hillary our president after all that's happened this spring!
