2. Mika was way out of line
I think Joe got it right, they are all politicians and it is the Obama campaign’s responsibility to attack McCain on policy weaknesses. Mika should really check herself, enough of the Republican accusations of ad hominem attacks when the issue was actually policy for once!! I have noticed the Scarborough has been much more of an honest host like Chris Matthews in the last year… If we could keep conservatives like him who attempt to be intellectually honest and throw out the likes of Hannity and O’Reilly, this world would be a better place.

5. Meeker was just repeating Skankborough's point -- both were wrong
Edited on Thu Jun-12-08 09:25 AM by Supersedeas
Meeker was trying to draw a distinction between a campaign where policy was the issue vs. a campaign were personalities and the politics of personal destruction determine the campaign.

But, how the hell are you going to have a debate about policy difference if you can't illustrate the differences in facts. How does one discuss policy without facts?

So, when the Obama campaign points to the mistaken facts underlying McCain's policy position, that...THAT is supposed to be equivalent to a personal attack!?! So, in an effort to continue the Free Ride for John McCain, Meeker (the watered-down Joe) expresses her self-righteous indignation about a discussion of 'facts.' Joe takes a stronger position: discussing facts is equivalent to calling McCain a senile old man. Not anyone in Obama's campaign's position--though the Media wants to hand it off as such...as if discussing 'policy facts' is the same old politics. Hell, when has this country ever been presented with a real policy discussion with an elaboration of the underlying facts to support those dicussions -- how is that old politics?

What is old is the Media's dumbing down of politics.

The Free Ride Media does not want to make this campaign about policy. It will continue to be the same old politics for the corporate marketers and advertisers. They demand a policy-free campaign about personal identity. McCain was a POW -- that makes him a Foreign Policy Expert -- how dare you question his expertise -- how dare you question his age by pointing out his factual errors about policy...that is Meeker and Joe's position...without facts...without regard to the ACTUAL policy.

Thus, it becomes a sympathy campaign about McCain's personality. Don't question what the man says, because his presence alone is his expertise. Feel sorry for McCain, he was a POW. Feel sorry for McCain, he sometimes gets confused. Feel sorry for McCain, he is older than the other candidate. Feel sorry for McCain, he is not a great speaker. Feel empathy and get closer to the candidate's personality.

It is the same old media trick that was used with Bush, the candidate that you can have a beer with. This time it is McCain, the candidate that you can feel empathy for...like a great uncle.

And Meeker has the unmitigated gall to pretend to be self-righteous about that. A policy debate without facts -- what a pathetic lightweight.

11. Who are these FAUXY women?
Do they drag them out of gated trailer parks. Seriously thick-headed, stubborn, and ugly. Not ugly in a physical sense necessarily, but all of them have this nasty mean streak compounded with 'what do I know I'm just a dumb blond' as a defense mechanism.

Even after Scarborough explains that politicians are by their nature political, she has to cling to "...I don't know..."

3. Hillarity again. Joe' argument... STUPID. Don't correct McCain when he misspeaks
It's not, how did we get into this mess? Did he lose the fact that we were misled into this war. John McCain does have weaknesses. They are national security and the economy.

6. John McCain is putting the question mark over his own head with his repeated misstatements
Some parts of the press don't like to report bad things about McCain but, guess what? There it is. Report it or get scooped.

8. joe is such a deaf, dumb idiot! NOBODY mentions this fact:
The Muslim nation is offended by the presence of non-MUSLIM people living on their soil. THIS, and this alone creates these suicide bombers from blowing themselves up to get us the hell out of there.

Doesn't anyone remember the reasons for Osama attacking the US having to do with American troops on Saudi soil? ANYONE?

If we stay there 5-10-50 or a hundred years, they will continue to attack and try to rid their soil of these infidels...US.

Get it through your f*cking heads!! THEY...the religious fanatics ESPECIALLY, do NOT WANT US THERE!!!

Doh.....I can't believe this fact is totally ignored.

A land of morons, with a press the most imbecilic of them all!!

9. A-men
Yes yes yes.

We here are told "we're the greatest country on Earth!" and this is true in some ways but not in others and....define "greatest" anyway. We are also told "Everyone wants to be us!"

The lesson of 9/11 was not "They hate our freedom". It was "The world is not the USA....and doesn't want to be."

10. There's no such thing as "The Muslim nation". And isn't it up to the Governments of said countries
as to who they allow to have a "presence" there? Not some terrorist group that lives outside of that country. And there was a long list of reasons why Osama attacked the US, one of them being support of Israel. You can read the long list of transgressions of Osama's fatwa at http://www.pbs.org/newshour/terrorism/international/fatwa_1996.html. To break it down to the presence of non-Muslim people living on their soil is quite simplistic and equally naive.
