O'Reilly: "It's not going anywhere. People on my radio program are saying "why is a smart guy like Dennis Kucinich wasting everybody's time, taxpayers' money on this nonsense, not gonna happen, when we've got out of control gas prices, we got Iran saber-rattling like crazy, let's concentrate on the things that really matter," and I've got no answer for that...do you?"

Kucinich: "Yes, I do."

1. Kucinich was able to get points in
which actually surprised me. Of course he steered O'LIEly into having to agree about gouging the consumer! Way to go, Kooch!

And they even agree to both work for an American produced, alternative energy automobile that will stick it to the oil companies!

4. Bill Has to Feign Sanity at Some Point...
Edited on Thu Jun-12-08 02:50 PM by theFrankFactor
but behind that crap is his real motive. The fact that he is so casual about impeachment belies his true partisan loyalty. Also, this comes on the heels off his embarrassing Moyers debacle. He TELLS YOU what's important and people buy it. He simply sidesteps any substantive challenges by devaluing them or flat out lying.

Of what relevance is John Kerry, Bill Clinton and blah, blah, other-liberal, blah, blah to the impeachment- to the war? NONE! The Bush administration lied and misrepresented itself in the presentation of "facts" and "evidence" in the run up to war. THAT IS PRIMARILY THEIR FUCKING RESPONSIBILITY!

O'Reilly is a calculating entertainer. He massages the viewer with just enough "sensibility" to jab him with his unmitigated bullshit. This is why I personally love to attack him. As someone who dabbles in the video commentary realm and has worked in television for over a decade, I can more easily see the ploys and tactics at play.

O'Reilly is a page right out of Roger Ailes' book "You Are the Message". He is a master at what he does. Unfortunately, what he does is disgusting. I understand that I am no where near as talented as Bill-O but I can honestly say, I would never expend my energies as he has- making himself a professional fraud. His viewers are dupes and he has absolutely no respect for them as evidenced by his condescending and patronizing attitude.

5. Yes Bill O
Is unarmed. And going after the "Real Criminals" is what Dennis is doing. Only Bill O doesn't know Bush/Cheney are the criminals. In the summer of 2001 Condi and Collen said Saddam wasn't a threat to us.

7. As Obvious as the Day is Long...
One of the most disappointing things about being an American in these times is that fact that this has been allowed to go on so long. I am a skeptic at heart. I want to believe in "hope" and "change" but previous experience has taught me not to expect too much.

I don't have and never did have the Obama fever. I like him, he's just fine, but Earth moving gravitas? Not so much. That said, a part of my heart does get excited to think that he might actually be a strong, articulate, sensible Liberal. A Liberal that helps return respect to the term.

I hope... for change.

55. I like Obama because he is tapping into grassroots
And I believe he has said a time or two that it's not just up to him. Citizens in general need to be better informed and more involved in the process of governing. If Obama gets elected and this doesn't happen, the powers that be will not give a shit.

6. That's exactly why we need to impeach -- oil and war dependence
This video answers why we need to get the oil and war profiteers (GOP) out-- produce electric cars, NOW...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZk_giOvhfw&feature=related

We already have done the research--Time for production..
"If these oil-free EVs had been improved each year, allowed to be owned and modified, with new models as people see them running, we would be in a much different world.

1997 EV1 with lead batteries from Panasonic Storage Battery Co., up to 110 miles at up to 80 mph;
1997 HondaEV with NiMH batteries from Panasonic Energy PEVE, up to 140 miles at up to 80 mph;
1999 EV1 with NiMH batteries from GM-Ovonics, up to 160 miles (140 EPA certified) at up to 80 mph;
1997 Toyota RAV4-EV with NiMH batteries from Panasonic Energy, up to 120 miles at up to 80 mph. Last sold in Nov., 2002, these are still running fine, even though Toyota has refused to sell replacement batteries;
Various battery scooters, Neighborhood EVs, motorcycles and city cars.

AND THAT'S IT. You don't see any fuel cell car in there, and there never will be, because fuel cell cars will never be offered for sale on the open market. If they ever were offered for sale at normal prices, buy about 10, and sell the components for a gain of 1000%!

What's needed is a recognition that all the research and testing has already been done, and it's time for PRODUCTION.

The original vision of 1990 was valid, it was betrayed by intimidated, misguided or weak regulators. Slow charging at night is a boon, not a problem; an EV need not have a range of more than 200 miles, long-distance trips should be done via the airport or train station." http://www.ev1.org

Well, it took too ling for the American people to throw away the consent manufactured for the war - so it is only logical that it got "play" in the media just now. Remember Kuciinich screaming at the debates - "Impeach NOW"?

Dennis Kucinich and Bernie Sanders - are my 2 heroes in the Senate.

19. A few days ago I figured out what pisses me off the most about Bill O'Reily...
Actually no matter who I'm dealing with this is a sure fire way to piss me off. He doesn't let someone he disagrees with to finish a sentence. Doesn't let them have a chance to voice a single thought aloud without being interrupted. There are very few things that get me pissed off. This is in my top three. Whether it be a guest on Billo's show, or me at my family's dinner table. If there's a conversation, and I think to myself, (huh, here's a subject that I can put my two cents in a make a significant, and profound contribution to the conversation.) All I get to say is "Well, I think that..." That's it.. that's all I can get out, before I'm cut off. Or worse, the main participants in the conversation just keep talking, as if they didn't notice that I tried to say anything... Like I'm a friggin ghost that no one can see or hear.

That's what I love about DU. I can put my two cents in... or an entire dollar if I want to. When I speak here people actually pay attention.

I can't believe what I just saw. To be sure, Billo was his usual impolite and megalomaniacal self but I have to give him some credit for even giving Kucinich a platform. To my knowledge that was the first time to date that Dennis could make his case on a major network and he actually got to make some very good points. Perhaps he reached some of the mind-numbed Fox viewers. Watching him left me a bit sad though. No one can argue that he would have made a very fine POTUS. Too bad for us.

I was shocked to see Olielly actually make a sane statement, but does he really care about people or does he sense a changing tide in the media and wants to be on the cusp of the change? i see this happening more and more, the right wing owned media starting to show a little objectivity. I'm dumbfounded, have been since Chris Matthews actually starting reporting the news and sounding mature and Faux said McSame's speech sucked. What is happening?

Edited on Fri Jun-13-08 10:22 AM by AlbertCat
Because Bill-o never does an interview, he just sets up a platform to mouth off his own ideas and I don't care what he has to say.

But Kucinich did the right thing. It is in the record, and he made an effort. He's serious....even if it will never get going. It has to do with enumerating clearly the crimes of Bush and getting them in the record....with the benefit that it gets the subject back in the news and people talking about it.

All this is too subtle for Bill-O....who is doing this only to voice his knee jerk opposition.

I loved the "We're winning now in Iraq." just cavalierly tossed in there with a shrug. WE ARE? OK, hands! Who thinks we're wining in Iraq?
