Appearing on Countdown with Keith Olbermann, Senator John Edwards shares his thoughts on Tim Russert, who died of a massive heart attack earlier in the day.

Edwards said of Russert, "He was not only an extraordinary journalist, but an extraordinary human being."

Speaking about Russert's cross examination style of interviewing, Edwards said that Russert "was not looking for that 'a ha' moment but looking for the truth."

"The American People trusted him," Edwards said.

Earlier in the day, Edwards released the following statement on Tim Russert:

"A great man has been lost. It is not just that our system depends on intelligent, persistent, fair-minded journalists, and Tim was one. It is not just that the civility of our political interchange requires dignity and respect and -- it is also true -- compassion, and that Tim was a model of each of these. It is not just that the manner in which we treasure and respect our essential personal relationships is the real mark of character, and that Tim was an exemplary son and husband and father. It is that too few among us reach for all these things and even fewer attain them. We were blessed to have had his friendship and companionship. We were all blessed to have his wisdom and vision and to have shared his joy for life. Tim will be missed today and tomorrow and next year and the year after and in a decade and for even longer than that. Elizabeth and I will miss him."

9. Very Nice Rememberance... The Story About Wade's Friends Gave Me An Even Warmer Regard For Tim...

Despite my having a problem what I believe to be Tim's capitulation to "Corporatism" over the past 5 years or so. (We've all got to keep our jobs.)

I just watched with a little more salt than a grain while still perceiving Tim to be a great and talented guy from Buffalo who was as genuine in every respect mentioned by many, but most eloquently by Senator Edwards in this clip following Tim's sudden passing Friday.

May Tim have a good word for the rest of us as he interviews our Lord in Heaven as well as those he could never interview in this world... We'll miss ya Timmy! Next one's fer you! :beer:
