27. Just pointing out that The Hague is the name of a city, not any
court. I see people on here making that mistake day after day for years.

2. I must confess...
I've never paid all that much attention to Mr. Gravel, but damn if he doesn't hit it dead on here. Sadly, the MSM media will ignore him.

11. Who cares about Gravel? He's a whacko....
I'm new to this site, but I guess I didn't realize it was full of a bunch of *extreme* liberals. I'm a progessive liberal; not a Gravel-worshipping, Tim Russert-hating, "I have no respect for the dead except when it's a soldier and it fits my agenda" crazy person like so many here seem to be. Hmmmmm.

14. You are not alone.
Many of us fondly recall the "good old days" of DU, when we would get together to discuss Senator Joe Lieberman's liberal ideas, and things like that. We'd get together for group discussions of the re-runs of "Father Knows Best," and share in democratic fellowship. There was a strick dress code -- men had to wear matching socks and at least one neck tie (those who had leadership roles wore two ties, in a show of respect for conformity and human dignity). Dances were often well-attended, with some rocking Pat Boone 45s. Cookies and milk, no swearing allowed.

But then the administrators were kidnapped while hitch-hiking to a fellowship meeting. They were reputedly held at Mike Gravel's day camp, where they were brain-washed, and gosh, they took the spin cycle too far. The great "Democrats for Dick Cheney" posters issued to new DUers stopped, and all of a sudden, people implanted a chip that said, "Do Not Trust Your Elected Leaders" were inscribed in the subconsciousness of DUers. You obviously have picked up on the invisible "warning signs." Run while you can!

Glob less and good luck.

26. Yeah, I'd Recomment this post, too, but k & r for the thread is good, too.
Personally, I'm glad they got rid of that "matching socks" dress code requirement. I wear flip-flops most of the summer. There's nothing dumber, or dorkier, or drearier, than that particular fashion statement.

Mike Gravel's honesty, enthusiasm, and moral sensibilities, on the other hand, are anything but dumb. He's almost always worth listening to. The little nugget about former speaker Mansfield was pretty cool, and I'm always interested in both Vietnam-Iraq, and Watergate-BushFiasco comparisons.

(June 17, NYC). A surprise development occurred at today's hearing in the case of Susan Lindauer versus the United States. A long time associate of the accused, associate professor of computer science at Toronto's York University, Parke Godfrey, Ph.D., testified that Susan Lindauer predicted an attack on the United States in the southern part of Manhattan. According to his testimony, she said that the attack would be very similar to the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center. Godfrey said that Lindauer made the prediction on several occasions, one as late as August 2001.

The testimony occurred in a hearing on Lindauer's competence to stand trial held before U.S. District Court Judge Loretta Preska, Southern District of New York, in lower Manhattan. On March 11, 2004, Lindauer was arrested for acting as an "unregistered agent" for the nation of Iraq prior to the U.S. invasion. Prosecutors have delayed the trial for over four years claiming Lindauer was delusional for asserting that she was a U.S. intelligence asset over a period of nine years, including the period covered by the indictment.

This was Lindauer's first real opportunity to argue her competence to stand trial and deny the delusions claimed by court psychiatrists. Lindauer asserts that she had been a U.S. intelligence asset since working on the Lockerbie case and subsequent antiterrorism efforts.

Appearing for the defense, Dr. Godfrey testified under oath that Lindauer told him of her specific concerns about an attack on the United States. She told him that a "massive" attack would occur in the southern part of Manhattan, involving airplanes and possibly a nuclear weapon. The witness said that she mentioned this in the year 2000, which coincided with the Lockerbie trial. And then in 2001, Lindauer also mentioned the anticipated attack in the spring, 2001 and then August 2001. Godfrey said, at that time, Lindauer thought an attack was "imminent" and that it would complete what was started in the 1993 bombing (the original World Trade Center bombing).

After the hearing, Lindauer elaborated that this extreme threat scenario was done in concert with the man she says was one of her CIA handlers, Dr. Richard Fuisz, who has been associated with U.S. intelligence.

Edited on Wed Jun-18-08 09:27 PM by barack the house
I heard him at the libertarian convention on CSPAN podcast. The whole room went quiet when he made his pitch for nominee. It was like what are you doing here. Dear, dear. I know 911 truthers will like this but he is flipping postions quicker than McCain and that ain't good. If he genuinely wanted to be Democratic leader he would of been stumping for Obama by now, as supposedly this is the team he supports to run for the post. Even Kucinish should be getting behind Obama now as it is better to dance than stand and watch. Obama may not be all Kucinich wants but mccain surely isn't what he wants more so.

24. You'll find that if you listen to people who are not trying to run for office anymore,
... they often make more sense.

There's not one "wacko" moment in Gravel's conversation with Amy Goodman. In fact, look at Amy Goodman herself... once described "in long ago DU land" as one of the Democrats who wouldn't "go there", or, "gatekeeper" of too-often described wack-a-doodle "theories" dealing with 911. Eventually, if people release the fear of self perceived criticism, they start dealing with many unanswered questions suppressed during 911 commission's activities. Those committee members admitted these were left unanswered. And, just look at Lincoln Chaffee, who was mentioned by Gravel as accepting a position to uncover what happened on 911. If you'll recall, he was the only Republican to have voted AGAINST the war in Iraq. That doesn't suddenly make this forum an "ex-Republican Underground". It's called the beginning of the over-do conversation, folks.

Think, think, think. :spank: Think about the necessity of doing a real investigation. If it hurts too much, then crawl back under the blankets, kids.
