1. A lot of feminists who are still upset about Hillary and claim they will not support Obama
should consider this for a moment. Actually, a nanosecond should be long enough because it is a no-brainer. Actively or passively participate in the election of McCain and you will know what you will get and you will have blood on your hands.

2. Yet another McCain flip flop
1999: “In the short term, or even the long term, I would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade.” He explained that overturning Roe would force “women in America to illegal and dangerous operations.”

2008: "I do not support Roe v. Wade. It should be overturned."

You just can't trust this guy.

6. ON this, I trust him
He's been an anti-abortion extremist for years. In the early 1990s he voted AGAINST cracking down on abortion clinic bombings. only 29 other senators supported his position. even mitch mcconnell voted the other way.

9. Trust which position?
THAT'S the problem!

He was for it before he was against it. Hey, now wouldn't THAT make a good ad?

I know...it's been done.

I trust him to say whatever he feels he needs to say in order to get elected. In order to pander to the "Whitie Tightie" Righties.

28. I think that quote from 1999 shows how artificial his "maverick, moderate" campaign was in 2000.
Edited on Sun Jun-22-08 04:23 PM by ryanmuegge
He's a fucking opportunist who will just change his public image according to fads. I do think that he is really against abortion, though.

18. I have a new line of t-shirts...
...called the "Straight Talk - out of both sides of his mouth!!" line. Here's one for this flip-flop:

The shirts are available at http://www.zazzle.com/knowyourcandidate - or you can get the full size image from my flickr account (user=zeitjft) and use iron-ons to make your own. The only thing I ask is that you include my URL in the iron-on so that other folks can see where to get one...

4. There's a simple solution for all of this.
McCain should share the details of the time that he was raped and decided to keep the baby because he did not believe in Roe V. Wade.

Other than that, shutting the FUCK UP might be another option for Bush Phase III.

:grr:

12. How can you NOT believe in a woman's right to an abortion after Bush, Cheney and McShame
Three better advertisements for the procedure I've never seen. And I'm a catholic who would never choose to have an abortion.

But I get that this is a democracy not a theocracy and women need to make their own choices about such things. The only man who even has a right to an opinion is the father. But I don't think even he has veto power.

Republicans are always sticking the government in all the wrong places and taking it out of all the places we need it to be.
Watch the banks and the trading of commodities so our economy won't fail and we can afford gas. Watch the food and the drugs so we don't die from poison driven by corporate greed.

Keep your damn opinion about who I should live with, love and my medical decisions to yourself. You have no right and you don't know what the hell you're talking about.

16. I love their idea of a "strict constructionist."
If they really were strict constructionists, they would've said that the Constitution works just fine and never even agreed to hear Bush v. Gore in the first place. That "strict constructionist" meme is a piece of crap.

20. McCain is the poster child for doing anything to get elected.
Edited on Sun Jun-22-08 11:52 AM by progressivebydesign
That has always been my problem with him... (outside of his ideaology!) He watched as his own family was horrendously smeared by Bush and Rove in 2000, and what did he to in return? Hugged and kissed Bush, campaigned for him and has basically done whatever it took to be the nominee this time. It's standard fare in primaries to attack each other then play nice when it comes time to rally 'round the nominee, but the attacks on McCain and his family were filthy, and like nothing we've seen before. McCain despises Bush, but he'll do what every it takes to get into power. So now he's becoming the darling of the oil industry, the christian right, and any other group he needs this year.

As far as the Hillary supporters who now support McCain, or threaten to. I was a Hillary supporter (well, I still support her, but she's not running anymore.) I'm NOW supporting the nominee. I left DU for several months because of the ugly attacks on me and other Hillary supporters, vowing to come back when the nominee was chosen. Which I did. The problem is for those HRC supporters that remain angry enough to support McCain, is that whether all of you know it or not, many Obama supporters would continually bombard the pro-Hillary sites and threaten the people supporting her, by using Roe v Wade as a weapon. Unfortunately, it backfired on them. After going through months of being called "old c**nts" and worse by the idiots that came onto those sites as supposed Obama supporters, you can bet that most of the women who were targets of those attacks said they were willing to risk Roe v. Wade rather than let those people win. Hey, I was pretty mild in those discussions but was called some really ugly things for simply not supporting Obama.

You can't be surpised that a lot of women are unwilling to just look past all of those attacks, even if it means losing Roe v. Wade. I guess my thought is that the idiots who were telling us to "hurry up and die you old hags" should have thought of Roe v. Wade when they chose to do that.

Me? Well... it completely sucked to be called filthy names and insinuations that I'm an "old wh*re", considering I'm neither. But.. I'm not so aggrieved that I would ever want McCain in the White House, or any republican for that matter. I also understood that the morons who did all the attacking were 20-something, energy-drink-fueled boyz, who didn't and don't give a rats ass about Roe v Wad, cuz they'll never get pregnant, oh and I also realized that probably half of the offenders were republican trolls trying to further fracture the Dems and get McCain some support. I'm just letting you all know the mindset of women willing to risk Roe v. Wade.

26. morons... 20-something, energy-drink-fueled boyz
Yep, the very image of a Republican troll. Funnily enough, it went both ways--I think we all saw lots of folks claiming to be Clinton supporters who were far ruder here on DU than any of the Clinton supporters I know personally. I actually had one guy call the local Obama office claiming to be a Clinton supporter and calling us, in his very first breath, "a bunch of left-wing loons" which is a phrase I don't think any real Democrat would ever use to describe another.

It's been so long since we've had a contested primary, I hope no one gets fooled by the false flag operations. It's textbook. Let's not forget who we're angry at!
