2. I can't stand watching Lieberman and Friends, but John McCain is just entertaining,

and I find it heartening each time I watch a clip of him because.. well.. how could this thing possibly become president (short of election theft and governmentally engineered terrorist attacks). He is just.. well.. I am speechless, really. Truly.

7. It suddenly occurred to me why he is doing so badly

He isn't having any fun - he doesn't like it. He had fun campaigning around NH talking to people and doing town hall meetings where he could shoot the bull with some guy like he was down at the VFW hall.

This running around with talking points and laughing and smilling on cue. He doesn't like it and he is a terrible actor.

He especially dosen't like the briefings where they try and tell him stage directions - he resists the coaching so much.


Quite astonishing really. With that much contradiction between what he is naturally comfortable doing and the compulsion to perform what he hates doing the stress on his systems must be tremendous. I wonder if he will make it to November.

Senility isn't a bad thing - I mean, it's just a fact that as people age, real time flashes past much faster and it gets more and more difficult to grasp the flow of events. Not that it's easy at any age to grasp real time politics at anything like the level a president of the US should grasp these matters - but when you're sitting down over a beer and it's between friends, his "base", the disadvantages of old age tend to be given a pass.

As when you're snoozing like Reagan thru' a cabinet meeting...

When McCain is outside that safe setting he gets confused because he doesn't know what's going on. He doesn't know why his handlers have him say the things he's supposed to say - except in the most vague sense where the past 8 years flashed past him so quickly that his current understanding doesn't go beyond knowing that he should assent to the most general Republican talking points - his own threadbare "maverick opinions" of 2000 being entirely forgotten.

I'm sorry, McCain campaign, but the teleprompter's not helping. Make him wear a wire like Bush did in '04 and have someone read the speeches one word at a time.

Seriously this guy needs to be looking for a nursing home to spend his last days, he is done, speeches are boring, have no substance at all, he cares more about Crocs than all the jobs that already left America. Maybe he or his wife has some stock in Crocs. Well he says NAFTA is good (for China it is)

All Obama needs to do is just use McCain's speeches unedited and run it nationally. Guaranteed to work.
