Karl Rove “remarkably says no to a lawful subpoena” to appear before the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday to testify about the Don Siegelman prosecution by claiming executive privilege despite previously stating that he had no discussions with the White House about the case. Will the House call Rove's bluff and hold him in inherent contempt? Apparently not if Nancy Pelosi has anything to say about it (see http://www.hotpotatomash.com/2008/07/shocking-pelosi.html)

See Hot Potato Mash's entire Don Siegelman coverage: http://www.hotpotatomash.com/don_siegelman/index.html

1. He's just following the precedent
set by Miers and Bolton. No one (including Conyers) could have expected otherwise.

5. When you are guilty of the charges, what does he have to lose by not appearing??
Edited on Mon Jul-07-08 11:57 PM by Hulk
Nothing. We all know the slimy SOB is guilty. He just figures the clock will run out, and the backbone of Congress is made of jelly.

6. He almost makes me want to change my first name
Anyway... if yours truly Mr. Bonner was in Congress, he'd be sending out the SWAT team to haul Mr. Rove in. Mr. Bonner also thinks that Mr. Rove would make a resurrected Mr. Marx look like a good Deputy Chief, at least in comparison.

7. How risky is it to call the bluff of House Dems?
Edited on Tue Jul-08-08 01:45 AM by Mr_Jefferson_24
They've repeatedly shown themselves to be little more than a weak sister, compliant subsidiary of the GOP. We'll see some posturing, maybe a strongly worded letter or two, and that's about it -- business as usual.

Edited on Tue Jul-08-08 09:36 AM by ooglymoogly
to the Executive the moment they took impeachment off the table. Now they are nothing but a bunch of puffed up gasbags. Case in point Waxmans hormone fight to the death and caving on any and everything of import to 'We the People'. They sold their soul a long time ago for a fist full of dollars. All that is left standing is the slimy little usurper and his vicious enablers.

15. How can this not be EXPECTED?
If I was a guilty slimy rat-bag like Rove I wouldn't testify either, if I knew that there would be NO consequences. Why is this news?

Could the democratic leadership, HONESTLY (this is the key here), expect any different outcome from bush and company, given that they have never held them accountable for anything?
