Health Care Group Being Promoted By Elizabeth Edwards Goes Up With Ad

By Greg Sargent - July 8, 2008, 10:46AM

Here's an advance look at the new ad that Health Care for America Now -- the consortium of progressives, unions, and think tanks that's planning a $40 million ad campaign to call for universal health care -- is planning to unveil today at a noon press conference...

The group, which is being figure-headed by Elizabeth Edwards, is planning a hugely ambitious campaign that includes more ads like the above, organizers in 52 cities, Op eds in big broadsheets, and even an organizer placed in the districts of every Blue Dog Dem who might be resistant to supporting universal health care. The initial ad buy is $1.5 million.

HuffPo's Sam Stein has http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/07/08/40-million-health-care-ca_n_111295.html">a good rundown of the group's plans.

1. K&R great ad
My mother in law flipped out last weekend when I mentioned universal health care. She has some "friends from Canada" who say their national plan is awful. It seems like there are so many of these "friends from Canada" who just love our system. I wonder why they don't adopt it?

2. What a great ad.
I have shaken the healthcare magic 8-ball many times myself, and have been disappointed far too many times.

5. The reason Hillary failed in '93 was that she did not have a
massive public education and information campaign, like this commercial provides, in advance of her proposal. People saw the disinformation funded by the health insurance industry and believed it. My friend's father in the Czech Republic endured cancer treatments for six years, off and on, and the Czech government picked up 100% of the tab!
