1. I used to respect Maher, but he's just another bigot. albeit a funny bigot |
|

when it comes to religion. I also find it ironic that he claims to be libertarian, but sounds like a simpering collectivist statist ninny when it comes to firearms rights.
But he IS very funny, and I appreciate his work.

3. Agreed. He has done alot to further necessary political discussion. |
|
So did people such as Father Coughlin in their day. But the man was a notorious anti-semite (and a few other things)

5. He's really a closet conservative. |
|
Remember when he got booted from ABC. He was very anti-anything Democratic. Granted, he's also anti-religion, but for anyone to think that he's actually a liberal, they're very wrong. He's always struck me as a George Carlin wannabe. But he's just not that good. Not only that, but he annoys me because he thinks he's funny. I can't stand comedians/satirists who obviously appreciate themselves toooo much.

6. I don't agree with him on everything and he may go too far sometimes but overall I'll take him |
|
He's entertaining and makes some good and funny points.
And I appreciate that he's an atheist comedian, because he can challenge long held assumptions and beliefs with humor. Again, some might think he goes too far on that front but if he played it safe it wouldn't be much of a challenge (and would likely be much less humorous).
