So while people were protesting the war, John McCain was fighting in the war. And according this ad, anyone who didn't support the war in vietnam didn't love their country and was just a stinky hippy. I guess all those people out there today opposed to the Iraq War are in the same boat. This ad is pretty slick - notice the "hope" angle.

2. Damn those Dirty Fucking Hippies!
And where are all the thousands of dead Vietnamese? ...err I mean dead gooks?

Note to wingnut trolls (esp you paid ones).
Please provide a real, authenticated photograph circa 1965-1975 of DFH's spitting on US soldiers.

3. There has never been a documented
instance of troops being spit on when they came home from Vietnam. I was there. It didn't happen.

4. Such a shame
That speaking out against your country's actions - one of the most fundamental freedoms of America, and one that is shared with so very few other countries - is being relegated to the fringe by McCain. If you love your country, don't question what it is doing - what a backwards, messed up sham.

5. Recommends please
Some recommends would be much appreciated, I think this is an important issue. McCain is trying to frame speaking out against your country as an unpatriotic stance and he should be called on it. At least I think so.

8. I think, in general, it's a good ad, but there are some problems with it:
1. The summer of love thing takes it back to the 60s. There are a lot of voters who weren't alive back then and neither was Obama so it doesn't make sense to try to link Obama to the 60's through the use of the word "hope and change" in the early part of the ad. A lot of us don't care about the cultural wars of the 60s and want the country to move beyond that.

2. The "Don't hope for a better life...." thing is jarring.
