3. Iraq needs to decide exactly what it wants and put it in writing. What role if any does the govern- |
|
ment of Iraq want the American military to play in its present and future domestic policies?
America needs to listen, then agree to do what they ask or agree to do less than asked. They cannot do more than is asked by this government they say is freely elected and democratic.
Full stop. End of debate.
Whether the conditions are better and how the conditions got better if they did are not an issue in the debate once we are asked to leave. The republicans will always say it's because we did the surge. And others will say it is multi-factorial with influences including the cease fire of one of the biggest groups in Iraq, the ethnic cleansing and separation of tribal groups, the exodus of millions, or even the simple fact they want their country back and have all decided they hate us more than each other so they have banded together at last. It really matters not one bit as to the debate. Those arguments are all for domestic political consumption.

4. Simple. They'll stage a coup. |

Maliki will be forced out and the oil companies, er, the US will put in a "leader" they get along with. The US will blame it all on Iran and then the fun will start. And the price of oil will rise beyond $200.... per gallon. See? We all win. :sarcasm:

And, perhaps I am the first to say this on DU, but I really wish Jon Stoltz would let his opponent finish before he tries to refute his nonsense.
