1. McSame clearly confirms he doesn't really understand Economics...it becomes Obvious
when he flip flopped the social security privatization issue...several times...he seems befuddled and confused. Is it his real brain of is it his message from above handlers?

3. My response is this: originally, one was not supposed to live long enough to collect , IMHO
Here is a link to longevity by race and sex I think it interesting that when the original SS Act was passed in 1935, only caucasian women who were born in 1935 were supposed to even live to 65. The life expectancy for all others was younger than 65.

Here is the link to the text of the original 1935 Social Security Act, if you are interested:

5. Interesting - our increasing longevity has been adjusted for a bit
over the years.

On the other hand, I wonder why FDR would put together a program that took money from people and didn't give it to anyone? Since there was no one left alive to collect? :)

6. Not sure I understand your question?
Maybe I should have stated in my OP that I was referring to the life expectancy as established in 1935 in regards to collecting RETIREMENT benefits. Obviously the program was designed to do the following: (abstracted from bill)

"An act to provide for the general welfare by establishing a system of Federal old-age benefits, and by enabling the several States to make more adequate provision for aged persons, blind persons, dependent and crippled children, maternal and child welfare, public health, and the administration of their unemployment compensation laws; to establish a Social Security Board; to raise revenue; and for other purposes."

And actually, the first recipient was Ida May Fuller who paid in $44 and collecged benefits of $20,934. Did I understand your query?

Here is another link that you may find interesting....

7. Sorry, just being a bit of a sarcastic wiseass
You are right to bring up the disability and welfare aspects of the program, which the GOP also seems to forget.
