I think that if you listen to what Richard Nixon and John Kennedy were saying in their stump speeches is quit something. Especially about change and experience. However, I believe that in the long run it will not be too-close to call. I expect John McCain to get his butt handed to him in November by Barack Obama. Please discuss.

1. McCain is no Nixon.
Nixon was pretty articulate. In fact, Nixon should not have lost that election. If it were based on experience alone, he would've crushed Kennedy.

That's what Obama should do, put a picture of Kennedy side-by-side Nixon and ask the Americans who made the better president. Then say "If America had voted for experience alone in 1960, John Kennedy would have been a footnote in history..."

2. As usual, people are prone to post without thinking...

I said the messages are similar -- not the candidates. I will spell it out further for you then... Nixon said that Kennedy was inexperienced -- much like McCain has said of Obama. John F. Kennedy stressed the importance of change -- much like Obama does the same thing today. Simple enough? I break it down further:

Barack Obama's message in 2008 = John F. Kennedy's message in 1960
John McCain message in 2008 = Richard Nixon's message in 1960

3. I thought well, you just assumed I was replying to what you said.
I was only suggesting Nixon was a far better candidate than McCain. I never said your statement was wrong. I actually was agreeing with you.

So, yeah.

4. Stand and Fight, you are projecting.
In your OP, you said "listen" to what they said. First poster says McCain doesn't sound like Nixon. You jump all over your first poster for saying that and not thinking.

In short, your response was a little ironic.

5. A stroll down memory lane - I was a teenager and remember it well...Joe Kennedy accused of buying
the presidency for JFK. Television was still fairly new for most people. I think both ideas are grand--the comparison between 1960 and 2008 campaigns, and comparing Kennedy's lack of political experience to Nixon's experience and asking, "Who had the better presidency?"

(Your post reminded me of what I saw on t.v. a few minutes earlier - One of McCain's ads is almost verbatim of Margaret Thatcher's 1970 ad)

6. Yes, experience got Nixon no where in 1960 and just 13 years later...
He was resigning the presidency in disgrace. I think people would be wise to, not only remember the Bush boys (Rummy, Cheney, etc...), but to also remember the Nixon as well.
