Former Sen. Phil Gramm's comments has Sen. John McCain playing defense. CNN's Dana Bash reports.

1. But I thought only Obama was responsible for
things that other people say.

2. I think his problem isn't that somebody else said it, it is that Graham is his
economic advisor. Graham is the one who basically wrote McCain's economic positions.

3. Phil Gramm sez "No Measured Negative Growth"
That's because he's the one who helped fudge the inflation numbers, the jobs lost overseas count as exports, and that he's doing better than all of you.

He's obviously using a ruller he bought at Walmart to measure with.

7. Need to find it, but I read a very extensive analysis of ALL the economic numbers
Not just growth/negative growth in GDP, and the conclusion was that because 9 or 10 of the 13 indicators were negative, we were indeed in a recession.

And, this was from an expert working in a huge banking & financial services corporation.

4. The economist Phil Graham
is the guy who said Bill Clinton's policies would cause a depression. Fuck Phil Graham and the fascist party from which he emanates.

5. CNN STILL SLANTING THE NEWS...
Near the middle of this report, Dana Bash states that
"Obama rebuked retired General Wesley Clark, a supporter,
for questioning McCain's military service". That
statement is entirely false! The gist of General Clark's
stated opinion was that McCain's military service did not
necessarily qualify the man to be President. It certainly was
not a comment on that military service.

Whether or not Phil Gramm's comments were in reference to the
country's leaders or to the working folks as
"whiners", I couldn't unequivocally say. But, the
report of his comments should not have included an out-and-out
fabrication that reflects badly on General Clark in his
support of Obama.

I sent an e-mail to CNN expressing my displeasure of this
instance. Then, I took a sip of coffee. The coffee had
greater effect.

6. My thoughts exactly
Everything must be tit for tat. The election must be always sold as neck and neck. Especially when it comes to balancing out McCains many faux pas. Then the MSM must also raise an issue from the Obama side which is in their eyes equally damaging - AND IF THERE IS NONE AVAILABLE THEY INVENT IT!

9. welcome to DU
but, I think there is no question that Gramm was referring to people in general, not people in Washington.

8. Anyone know what Phil and Wendy Gramm's annual income is? Might explain why Phil isn't whining.

10. Phil Graham
most certainly DID mean American citizens are whiners. Oh, to have been a fly on the wall during the bitch slapping he got from McCain. And speaking of McCain, the film footage of him over the past months consistently shows him barely able to keep a lid on his anger when he finds himself between a rock and a hard place.

Foreclosure Phil

NEWS: Years before Phil Gramm was a McCain campaign adviser and a lobbyist for a Swiss bank at the center of the housing credit crisis, he pulled a sly maneuver in the Senate that helped create today's subprime meltdown.

By David Corn

May 28, 2008

Who's to blame for the biggest financial catastrophe of our time? There are plenty of culprits, but one candidate for lead perp is former Sen. Phil Gramm. Eight years ago, as part of a decades-long anti-regulatory crusade, Gramm pulled a sly legislative maneuver that greased the way to the multibillion-dollar subprime meltdown. Yet has Gramm been banished from the corridors of power? Reviled as the villain who bankrupted Middle America? Hardly. Now a well-paid executive at a Swiss bank, Gramm cochairs Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign and advises the Republican candidate on economic matters. He's been mentioned as a possible Treasury secretary should McCain win. That's right: A guy who helped screw up the global financial system could end up in charge of US economic policy. Talk about a market failure.
