3. As usual.. they take a hunk of truth and twist it to an incorrect conclusion.
They are right that stopping Iraq spending will not make funds "available" for other programs. (I think the credit card analogy is apt.)

It WILL save on future interest payments due on what would have been increasing debt on that credit card.

BUT
Leaving will not cost more than staying. Clearly the vastly decreased cost of not being there will be cheaper than continuing to throw money down that rat hole.

The story is just complicated enough to fool people who are only half-paying attention.

19. My thoughts exactly
Of course it will cost money to bring the troops home. In the long run we will save money by not
paying for a war we can't afford. If we keep paying for this war we will just keep going further in debt.

Deficit is real money you clowns.
Yes leaving Iraq will not pay down the debt and it will cost money to pull out, but the deficit will increase even higher the longer the occupation is still in Iraq, is cnn saying to never pull out because it will hurt the deficit more as appose to staying?
Straight double speak!
I wonder if CNN realizes that the deficit is payed down by tax payers with their "Real Money"

13. Well, technically speaking since the USD is not based on a precious commodity
such as gold or silver, but rather it is debt based currency issued by banks and not Federal authority, it in effect isn't "real" money in the truest sense of the word.

I would even go as far seizing Bush & Cheney's Assets too. Then we'll deal with teh oil companies. Lets face facts. We have been robbed and we are entitled to recoup what was stolen from US.

22. CNN: MORE WAR SAVES MONEY . . . !!!
Meanwhile, of course, this is a direct attack on Obama and his anti-war message ---

and his comments on SOCIAL needs . . . !!!

What they're basically saying is "change" won't improve things --- so don't even try!

How many people will sell their souls to be a CNN reporter?

Oh well, sorry guys but I guess you will be staying in Iraq forever. Make yourselves at home.

What a bunch of bullshit. The new American economy, where debt means nothing. Don't feel bad about getting into debt. It's not real money after all.

The elite does consider us a nation of mindless, all-consuming zombies. It is truly amazing how they throw this notion in our face. They are adding the term "retard" to the above list of american attributes. Sickening.

lies..with the LIES leading up to the War On Iraq and the perpetual LIES to keep it going. And, for what purpose? Ad Revenue?

Don't these corporatewhores have any decendents who would appreciate a healthy planet?

29. Technically, that is true
The war is being financed through borrowing so no real revenue is supporting it. True that. It's not like we'll have trillions of dollars to move from one line item to another.

What is amazing here is that they don't tell the whole story. The dimwits would say, "Well shoot, martha! We should just stay in Iraq because it saves us money!" No, the longer we stay in Iraq then the more of our children's money we spend. We increase our debt which then decreases our ability to pay for important things like health care etc. CNN chose not to tell it that way because it is more sensational to say, "Getting out of Iraq won't save us money!!!"

Then the Barbie doll anchor makes the "ha ha" that gee, politicians can't be trusted to tell the truth. Evidently, neither can CNN.

32. First of all CNN is now citing its own report as a reference (think Cheney-NYT-MTP prewar)
you create your our information or our hypothesis and then cite it as proof when you repeat the claim.

Secondly-okay so over 10 years it will add $214 Million to the debt okay what would keeping a troop level of 130,000 ADD to the debt? Is that mentioned in the CBO report? Is it more than having 75,000 there?

Complete bullshit.

42. WOW nice Ministry of Truth bullshit propaganda, I would expect this
from Fox News. The source they cite is their own website.

Instead of saying the Iraq war is causing us MASSIVE increases in debt which is destroying the dollar and making Oil that much more expensive they spin this as because this is just debt, we might as well just not worry about it because we won't have any extra money anyway. One of the worst pieces I have ever seen from MSM.
