1. It's refreshing that at least a small segment of cable "news" is worth listening to
I really enjoy both Maddow and Turley for their frank and honest discussions.

7. Guilty, guilty, guilty of illegal acts and crimes, beyond question, AND ....
All we have left by way of remedy is IMPEACHMENT at this point.

Is Speaker Pelosi making a move towards the side of law?

13. The Bush Mafia - organized plutocractic warmongers and profiteers
America has lost 4,118 fallen soldiers, 30,302 wounded, 1,000 + for Coalition troops, 4 million Iraqi's in exile, over 150,000 civilian deaths, and tens of thousands maimed for life. Warning: Extreme graphics.http://www.robert-fisk.com/iraqwarvictims_page1.htm

This illegal war was wanted and planned out politically. It was chosen as an easy target for gaining access and wealth by the privatized use of U.S. Military to fund corporate contracts, while fleecing tax payers into sponsoring an illegal war.

The Iraq war is unconstitutional. AUMF was not a formal Declaration of War as required by IHL's longstanding Laws. Bush used AUMF in the same context as a War ON Drugs, but for a War ON Terror. It's an unofficial and indefinable war, and the outcome is the same.

We know what happened. They distorted the factual truth by officially presenting cooked intelligence to our nation, then on to say it AGAIN before the U.N. We are our own witnesses. ICRC is the World's most valuable witness.

They still have not found that mushroom cloud causing WMD. That was the key argument for their authorized use of military force- which again, violates IHL Laws of War. Count up the trillions in profits that went to all the players in this war cartel.

Corruption of State and Military for war profiteering are International Tribunal crimes. Absolutely, no doubt about it.

We must not let history judge this nation by the mockery these Chicken Little’s made of the rule of law, the rules of warfare, human rights, and the death and destruction they unleashed on a sovereign nation. We must hold them accountable.

It is unacceptable to do nothing.

24. EXACTLY! Thank you for this.
Your post is saved in my faves list.

How is it that America has lost sight of what is most important? Somehow, humanity will go on... but in what kind of a world will it venture through? Global Warming looms SOOOOO damned large, SOOOO many humans suffering worldwide even now and America seems to want more!!!

We have all but turned into a rogue fascist government. How is it that a slime-ball-war-criminal-fascist-wannabe like mCcain can even pose a serious challenge to take over as POTUS??!! After the devastations created by bush and his wealthy controllers, mCcain's run flies in the face of everything that is sane! I strongly suspect much of the world is wondering about this as well! I hope America has not forgotten that we are members of the same lifeboat as everyone else!

You DO KNOW that our military used a WMD over in Iraq during this fiasco. Depleted Uranium munitions are classified as such-further war-crimes to be added to your charges of an unauthorized and illegal war. The bush gang and of course his chimp in training mCcain wants to add Iran to their list of nightmares too. Some have suggested that these folks have considered (and may yet use), nuclear bombs this time! I wonder how history will view 21st century America even a short hundred years from now.

16. One of the most encouraging news programs I've seen recently.
FISA law: Pissed Rachel Maddow off. She's acting as if this is the last show I do, I'd better make it worth it for the Constitution/Democracy. Thanks Rachel Maddow

19. You have to question the entire US government, does it work anymore?
Our system of checks and balances has failed. Congressmen are beholden to money and politics, not laws and the constitution. What good is a constitution, a bill of rights, a set of laws when not only the presidency ignores it, so do all congressmen sworn to uphold it.

21. Short answer is not really. It is in gridlock. They go through the functions and collect money.
I honestly think "Z shit is hitting the fan" behind closed doors. All branches and offices are practically scraping by at this point. It is time WE citizens run for office, so that our government reflects our goals of environmental policies, human rights, social justice, etc. We can multi-task and streamline much of the processes. At least they passed the new G.I. Bill before they go on another break.

She is a much more reasoned personality. She is more interested in the audience listening to the story, than listening to the anchor.

(edited to change Iran to Iraq)
We may have lost control over our government. Most of the world awaits the Obama Administration. Will there be accountability or will the tools for another hostile takeover of the mightiest military the world has ever witnessed be left in place for yet another bush or another Hitler.

The world witnessed the rise of fascism before....the world watched the nightmare that was Viet Nam...they have NOT forgotten the lessons of either horror even if we have! Somehow our tanks and our bombs and our bombs* and our guns must be placed in more responsible hands...they MUST NOT remain in the hands of those who value profit over wide scale human suffering and death.

After watching the Maddow/Turley piece and on reflecting on the very real state of current affairs, an old Jethro Tull song comes to mind. No I am not one of the "stick a fork in this turkey" gang,... like the rest of the world, I await the Obama Administration. Will he act responsibly???? That's the question isn't it. The song is for those who argue-(well), that America has already gone over the edge... they will get it.

"Locomotive Breath"

In the shuffling madness
Of the locomotive breath,
Runs the all-time loser,
Headlong to his death.
He feels the piston scraping --
Steam breaking on his brow --
Thank God, he stole the handle and
The train won't stop going --
No way to slow down.
He sees his children jumping off
At the stations -- one by one.
His woman and his best friend --
In bed and having fun.
He's crawling down the corridor
On his hands and knees --
Old Charlie stole the handle and
The train won't stop going --
No way to slow down.
He hears the silence howling --
Catches angels as they fall.
And the all-time winner
Has got him by the balls.
He picks up Gideon's Bible --
Open at page one --
God stole the handle and
The train won't stop going --
No way to slow down.

*yes that was indeed deliberate too:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXp7Am773iA&NR=1
Different thing???? No, not really, the anguish never changes...nor do those who choose to be distracted. The citizens of Germany remember a shameful yet deserved walk-through of Dachau and Buchenwald. Our turn may come too...it's not like we haven't earned it! Did we stop the fiasco in Iraq with our precious votes? Can we stop a likely escalation into Iran...possibly a nuclear one? What are we doing to aid the millions of refugees WE CAUSED? What are we doing about the depleted uranium oxide WMD that WE littered substantial portions of the Middle East with?

Big sigh...we can fight on I suppose. Not sure how though when our voted in REPRESENTATIVES take impeachment off the table...when they continue to fund the fiasco in Iraq...when the likes of a war mongering mCcain is a viable candidate for President. I sent money to Congressman Kuccinich's re-election campaign...I will send money to Darcy Burner...even though those dollars could feed the hungry locally. It's in your head...in your head, mine too.
Turley may be right.

25. I'm Glad Keith Was Away
Not that he'd have done anything "wrong," it's just that Rachel's simpler (newbie) style made the segment all the more powerful.

It's sad to say, but you really have to spoon-feed this stuff. Not to the public, but to the DC/Euphemedia Aristocratic idiots whose job it has been (for the Pelosi crowd, an oath and treaty bound duty) to DO some damn thing about this for years.

Failure to impeach is far worse than even the torture itself. And less importantly, is losing this election by McCain-Abling.

Impeachment remains our ONLY moral, patriotic option.

26. Ignoble, I like that word ignoble, for that is what every person in the US is, imo, who has
supported, shilled for, or voted for anything that enables junior to destroy our Constitution, discard our founding principles, wage wars of aggression. Ignoble, the whole lot, and I shan't invoke the blessings of the Almighty on any action undertaken to enable junior in any of his ignoble pursuits. :D

will Nancy Pelosi also be charged as a conspirator by treating the Bush regime's actions as unimpeachable, even before some were even acted upon? If not, I would be extremely disappointed.

29. Hopefully the detainees can sue her for more than that...
...if, as it seems, she approved their illegal treatment in advance.

But even her current aiding and abetting after-the-fact for war crimes should garner some type of enforceable remuneration somewhere.

Though impeachment -- albeit belated -- could go a long way to reduce her personal liability.
