Obama Camp Slams New Yorker Cover Calling it "Offensive"

The Obama camp called the recent New Yorker cover, "tasteless and offensive."

"The New Yorker may think, as one of their staff explained to us, that their cover is a satirical lampoon of the caricature Sen. Obama's right-wing critics have tried to create," Obama spokesman Bill Burton said in a statement. "But most readers will see it as tasteless and offensive. And we agree."


The latest New Yorker Magazine cover portrays Barack Obama and his wife Michelle as "enemy terrorists" in the Oval Office showing Obama wearing traditional Muslim garb and his wife Michelle wearing a machine gun. An American flag is burning in the fireplace where a portrait of Osama Bin Laden hangs over the mantle.

The New Yorker magazine stated, "We are poking fun at the scare tactics and misinformation that some have employed to derail Obama's campaign."

I appreciate the New Yorker's efforts but sadly it will be lost on so many.

5. It might be tasteless, but it's exactly what the right wing is going to do, SO

why doesn't the Obama camp laugh about it and point out that this is exactly what is going to happen and they'd rather face it in the open straight up rather than have it circulate below the surface and drag down the whole tone of the campaign.

Obama and his supporters need to laugh at this and keep laughing as they indicate the stupidity of the caricature. It is,obviously, a CARICATURE, not a reality. You laugh at a caricature; you give weight to something you treat seriously.

This caricature shows exactly what the unread and unwashed and brainless viewers of Fox News think. And they're going to think it no matter how much evidence is presented to disprove it.

In a campaign you recognize what's going to happen and you use it to your advantage.

When a basketball team goes into another gymnasium to play, they expect to be called names and booed, but the teams that win use that negative energy and turn it into a positive energy.

Obama needs to ride that wave of negative energy, let it propel him to victory.

I got one saying that Obama was born to a Muslim Father so according to the Koran he takes on his fathers religion, howerver, since he has rejected his muslim faith and converted to christianity he is a Murtadd in the eyes of Islam.

They further go on to say that if he becomes President of the U.S. this will inflame the Radical Islamists and give them more reasons to attack America making us less safe.

This tactic and seeing the cover of the New Yorker will give many uninformed and uneducated Americans reason to fear an Obama Presidency. This is shameful and must be stopped immediately.
