The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is the perfect place to drill because it's dark all the time and there are no trees. That's according to energy expert Michele Bachmann. And if we just open up this treasure trove of oil, Americans will be back to $2/gallon gasoline in no time.

You just can't make this shit up that comes out of her mouth.

12. You can call them idiots
But it is clear that this is the strategy they will use to get the mindless dupes to vote for them.

Look, see, it's the democrats fault the gas prices are high, do this and we'll achieive the golden grail. Certainly we're not going to ask questions like "Why aren't the oil companies drilling already in the land they've got under lease?" "Oh, it's because they don't have any equipment." "So, how is that going to change if we open up, Oh, Let's say everything, drill in my backyard if you like?" "Um, well, it'll have psychological advantages."

I'm telling you something you already know. That's their 'strategery' for the general election, and there are some pliable minds, molded from decades of right-wing talk, that are ready to jump on this one, 'for the team.' Never let it be said that right-wing and independent voters worry too much about a little thing called thinking.

3. Why not? She did.
Edited on Wed Jul-16-08 07:03 AM by Thor_MN
For the most part, her head is an empty echo chamber. She just mindlessly garbles talking points. She rivals * in her ability to take talking points and meld them into a fantasy world that only she sees. Her reading comprehension has to be on par with 2nd graders for her to bleat the crap she spews.

I have very happy that she is not my Rep, but she is but one district away. She is easily the dumbest person in the House.

10. Why does it take him 4 minutes to get to a substantive question?
I guess I should be thankful he eventually asked the most basic question, (paraphrasing) "If US demand is flat and it is demand in India and China that is rising, how will drilling for a minuscule amount of oil here reduce our prices?"

Good question. And some other questions that might have been asked if this guy wasn't peeing all over himself making plans to ride along on this junket:

1) When Bush's own energy department says this won't impact oil prices for 25 years, how does this address our problem?

2) If drilling is the answer, why aren't the oil companies drilling on the millions of acres for which they already hold leases?

3) What bills has Madam Congressman written that will increase America's energy efficiency?

24. By citizens who are even stupider
And I'm not joking. The American people are seriously stupid. It is by design. The powers driving this country have systematically driving our society to a ;least common denominator where the discourse is conducted completely absent of any critical thinking skills.

I'm not sure America was ever known for a thinking populace, but surely we are at the bottom of the heap now.

16. OK Bachmann is a typical idiot Republican. But what about Mr. Clean?
Nothing new there...but who is that douche bag kissing her ass? Not even the most basic challenge to her premise that if we just drill for ALL our oil no matter where it is we would be "energy independent." The most basic understanding should have lead to this question: "The US uses 25% of the world current oil production, and we have less that 3% of the world oil reserves. How would 3% of the oil, meet even our relatively flat demand for 25%?" And as a follow up Rep. Bachmann, you do realize that no matter how much oil we pull out of the ground our current system makes this national natural treasure the property of whatever oil company drilled for it? They can sell it for whatever the prevailing world oil price brings. How is less than 3%, at MOST, addition to the market going to cut the price of oil by more than 50%?"

What a dick.

This woman is a United States Representative? Holy Jeez, she's as ignorant as the rest of the sheeple, how did she get elected and WHY?? These people have staff working for them and access to information, for them to remain ignorant is inexcusable and unforgivable. Flip us over and take us off the stove cause we are royally and truly toast.
