by "we" I'm assuming most of us are against offshore drilling. Maybe some are in favor of it.
The polls are against us. The republicans and blue dogs are really putting a lot of pressure on the congresscritters that are holding out. And some people with a lot of money are spending a lot of it on ads.

It isn't going to decrease prices. Plus, oil goes on a global market. The media and the Republicans imply very strongly that just because oil is found here that it is all ours.

We'll never know, but it is odd that he's critical of the Bush administration for "borrowing money from China to buy oil from the Saudis" when the same thing could be said in 1998, but it wasn't.

... to keep fighting the good fight. He's certainly got more character and more caring than +/- 98% of the Republicans running around loose.
If I - and many others, I'd guess were in his place, after 2000 I would have said "Fuck y'all" and retreated to a hammock with some fruity drinks and the cabana boy of my choice, and whistled while the world goes to hell.
:shrug: Good thing I'm not Al.
