1. My only regret with these photo opts is....

....that they meet and talk with "the brass"....the officers in the back. Meanwhile, the grunts, the soldiers that man the checkpoints, ride around in the Humvees and are taking the real risk for pennies on the dollar get the usual short end of the stick.

Nice that the Senators go over. Nice that they meet with someone. Just once I'd like to see "the grunts" getting the respect and admiration that they deserve...more than any of these soldiers in the safety of the back.

I know who it is that gets blown up and sees their buddies take the heat of the day...it's the grunts. The epitome of "a soldier" is the infantry, but they are also the forgotten soldier when it comes time for reward....such as meeting with celebrity status people.

When the USO makes their tours, you can bet it isn't the grunt who gets to enjoy their company. They are out facing the day to day danger. It's the military in the back who can break away from their paper pushing and phone calling.
