This ad is the latest tit-for-tat commercial over energy in the presidential campaign. Earlier this month, an Obama ad accused McCain of being "part of the problem" of high gas prices. This one flat out blames Obama.

The main premise of McCain's ad — that opposition to drilling is responsible for high gas prices — is an assertion that has been disputed even by McCain allies. There is a strong case that proponents make for additional drilling, but few will argue that it would alleviate this summer's prices at the pump.

President Bush this month called on Congress to lift a moratorium that has blocked energy development over 80 percent of the country's coastal waters and to allow drilling in an Alaska wildlife refuge. But Bush has said that these steps "will take years to have their full impact" on energy costs. California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, a McCain backer, opposes lifting the ban on new oil drilling on the continental shelf and has said the moratorium is not responsible for rising prices.

Randall Luthi, who heads the Interior Department's Minerals Management Service that operates the federal offshore energy leasing program, told The Associated Press this month that even if leases became available now, "It will be 5 to 10 years or longer for actual production."

2. McCain also claims Obama is responsible for his first divorce and his plane getting shot down.
Seriously, McCain also says Obama represents 4 more years of Bush

5. Well to be honest...
Congress does need to do something. The bottom line is that alternative energy vehicles are not available, nor will they be for some time and when they are I assume the price will be well beyond my means...

So us carbon based fuel users have no choice but to use what we have to get to work to feed our kids.... and lets make sure we have those priorities straight 1. feed my kids, 2. worry about the planet. So no matter how green I wish I could be I am a slave to oil. Call on congress to release my shackles and set me free.

1. call on congress to pass legislation to help low income families afford gasoline and heating oil through a measure of gas stamps i.e. food stamps for gas.

2. Call on congress to pass legislation to tax oil companies windfall profits to pay for #1.

3. Call on congress to pass legislation making combustible fuel automobiles oboselete as of certain date that should get govt and private enterprise on the ball to develope real alternatives to gasoline engines.

4. Institute a series of tax incentives, and aid to help low income familys afford alternative energy vehicles, i.e., electric, hydorgen etc. additionally help us make our homes renewable energy, green energy capable.

6. I hear you, but killing speculation on energy prices would help a lot
Also, if Congressional Republicans would stop blocking drilling on American land tracts that are specifically set aside for drilling, we wouldn't have such a problem. Nor would we hear any talk of drilling in Alaska or off the shore of Key Largo or Padre Island.

9. Gas prices under a Republican president: $4.00, $5.00 a gal
When George Bush took office, they were $1.47, and John McCain was in the Senate that whole time. Do you trust the party that gave you Cheney's secret energy meetings when it comes to high gas prices? If they are not responsible, what do the have to hide?

John McCain and George Bush: attempting pass the buck on high gas prices. John McCain says he's not responsible for anything, but really, he's just not responsible.

10. IT'S A RACE ABOUT RACE AND MCCAIN & REPS KNOW IT!!!
The issue is not issues, the issues don't count because FOR YOU, YOU DUMB ASS, this presidential race is a RACE RACE.

Some of you still lament the defeat of Hillary-- A WHITE WOMAN-- because you can't see a *BLACK* president in the *WHITE* House. McCain's only hope is YOU and he knows it-- you can see it in ALL his commercials showing Obama's skin color and hiding his head and neck cancer.

You are what they call "Reagan Democrats": too greedy and short sighted to stand back and see where America is going. You all loved Clinton for cutting back "entitlements" for "them blacks," and think McCain will do more of the same. You think: what would a white veteran do other than bring us victory?

You never learn that Republicans are giving away America to Robber Barons, as they did in power until 2006, because you are too full of yourselves and think "I HAVE A RIGHT TO MY OPINION AND YOU CAN'T CONFUSE ME WITH FACTS....SO I DON'T HAVE TO STUDY ANYTHING." You might have a case, you think; after all, you made it to this point on dumb luck, so why think your dumb luck in danger now?

You don't care about all those soldiers killed and maimed in the wasteful wars in the Middle East, after all, those dummies were stupid and they "volunteered," nobody forced them. So what do you care....you can't because you suffer from the "ain't my kid going to Iraq" disconnect syndrome. Wall Street did well by you, gave you a nice pension to look forward to, so who cares what Bush did for his "entrepreneur" friends!

You don't think about your health plan that covers Viagra but not the chemotherapy to prolong your life so you can be made stop sucking on the Medicare Fund. You are MIDDLE AMERICA AND YOU ARE ENTITLED TO A NICE RETIREMENT.....So who cares what it costs!

You are really a dumb, selfish, ignorant ass. You'll stay home on election day or will vote for the "WHITE VET" like you. After all, what he did to many in the Middle Class as part of the "Keating Five" doesn't affect you, but blacks sucking up entitlements does.

You never learn. To you McCain means VICTORY-- and you don't like defeat, no matter what "victory" costs your neighbor. And McCain's continued support of Bush's "entrepreneurs" means more for your pension fund...so that's good!!!!!!!

Fact is "entrepreneur" is a French word combining two terms: "entre" means in between and "preneur" means taker...."entrepreneurs" are the guys who do nothing, produce nothing, just get in the middle and take from everyone...and then run....TAKING FROM EVERYONE IS THE ROOT OF ENRON....They bled Americans blind and left them without a future. But that's O.K. with you because it was somebody else's part of America. Well, the Mortgage mess of today is exactly like the "Keating Five" mortgage mess of the 1980s that McCain was a part of-- Oh, you forgot about that. The "entrepreneur" McCain backed went to prison for fraud....McCain played dumb...as he always does, so you can forget about it and play dumb too.

McCain's campaign has a subliminal message: I MAY BE DUMB, A LIAR AND A CHEAT, but at least I'M WHITE!" And you all love it. Because only a *white* president in the *White* House will take care of your interests.

You dumb fools think that voting is your right...EVEN IF YOU'RE IGNORANT....You insist: "Hell, I got MY right to MY opinion!"....The word "RESPONSIBILITY" means nothing to you because you are a "boomer" from me ME, ME, ME generation!

After all, McCain is a WHITE VET, like you and he will not allow us to lose in Iraq, he'll bring us victory and lots of cheap oil so we can "fill-er-up" our SUVs...Like you he's WHITE, so he'll protect the economy from an Arab takeover and IMMIGRANT entitlements, and will bring victory to the Christian anti-Islamic Terror Crusade. IT DON'T MATTER WHAT THE FACTS ARE, BECAUSE YOU CAN VOTE ANY DAMN *WHITE CHRISTIAN* WAY YOU WANT!

Well, if you can't care about your fellow Americans, think of what kind of America you and McCain will leave your kids. You owe them an answer to what will America be like when you and McCain are gone and your kids have to fix the kind of America YOU AND MCCAIN leave them.

You dumb clods have been driving on flat tires for quite a while with Bush at the wheel....You are already stripping the rims!

So keep driving blind drunk and repeat to yourself "I don't want a n------ in the White House" and don't cry when another "entrepreneurial" fraud crashes America into a wall. YOU MADE IT HAPPEN WITH YOUR INSISTENCE ON BEING IGNORANT, ON BEING A RACIST.

Obama not only has a way of saving America by bringing us all together, but he is running because he want to save the country for YOUR children and HIS two little daughters all part of the generation that doesn't see race as you do.

McCain was a victim of circumstance, not a tested hero. He learned little from the past because he was-- LIKE YOU-- not interested in learning, only in becoming President. BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER BECAUSE HE'S *WHITE* AND YOU DON'T WANT A N______ IN THE *WHITE* HOUSE!

When the Navy said: YOU CAN'T BE AN ADMIRAL BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO LEADERSHIP QUALITIES, his answer was plain and defiant: FINE, SINCE I CAN'T GET TO BE ON THE JOINT CHIEFS OF STAFF, I'LL GET INTO POLITICS AND BECOME COMMANDER AND CHIEF!

And no matter what you find out about him, under your breath you'll say to yourself: AH WELL, AT LEAST HE'S WHITE......And no matter what you find out about Obama, you'll say to yourself: I DON'T WANT A N------ IN THE WHITE HOUSE!

So very many ordinary Americans gave their lives so that, as Ben Franklin said: you can have a Republic, IF YOU CAN KEEP IT.....But you are keeping nothing because you gave up your RESPONSIBILITY to know for your FREEDOM to do as instructed on TV commercials. There you are, your remote in your dead hand, flipping channels and maybe checking out the scantly clad babes on FOX-NEWS-- it don't matter what they say, such nice legs and boobs must be right....You are worse than a dope addict, you are a dumbness addict!

Cure your DISCONNECT SYNDROME NOW....OR YOU WILL LIVE TO SEE YOUR CHILDREN SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR RACIST SLOTH IF MCCAIN WINS....Your house is like your standing as an American: rapidly depreciating.

It's not too late....GOD IS MERCIFUL....you get another chance to bone up on THE FACTS and think, think, think and vote on the facts in 2008. THIS MAY BE YOUR LAST CHANCE, don't muff it because you will be doing it on your children's white asses.

15. McCain: 72-yr-old whore for Unregul'd Energy Futures Trading, backs Enron Loophole since '06+P Gramm
Edited on Tue Jul-22-08 01:10 AM by tiptoe

From: John McCain's Connection to Big Oil & The Enron Loophole -- Keith Olbermann, June 18, 2008

Text of Video, (continued from June 18, 2008):

3:17
British Petroleum paid $303 milion to settle charges it cornered the propane market in 2004, inflating heating costs for 7 million American homes.

3:26
Two years ago, a Republican Senate report recognized what speculators have done, and blamed the Enron Loophole.

3:34
Two weeks ago, the Senate Commerce Committee heard testimony about the Enron Loophole's effect on the price of a barrel of oil.

3:41
Michael Greenberger (Fmr. CFTC Dir. of Trading & Markets), June 3, 2008 Sen Hearings on Energy Market Manipulation and Federal Enforcement Regimes:
"The speculators are not just betting on these futures markets, they're saying 'Gosh, if I can CONTROL the price of heating oil, I'm going to go out and BUY heating oil.' So you have Morgan Stanley is the biggest heating oil owner in New England."

3:55
Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-MN (June 3, 2008):
"The idea is to put the word "Energy" back in, so that we can actually go back to where we were before this -- what Dr. Cooper calls the foolish, but affectionately called "Enron" -- loophole got put into the law?"

(Anticipated effect of closing the Enron loophole)

4:06
Greenberger:
"Yes. Overnight that will bring down the price of crude oil to get at least a 25% drop in the cost of oil and a corresponding drop in the cost of gasoline...some people estimate 50%."

4:17
Mark Cooper (Consumer Federation of America):
"The speculative bubble in petroleum markets has cost the average American household about $1500 in increased gasoline, natural gas and electricity expenditures in the two years SINCE the Senate Permanent Committee on Investigations first called attention to the problem. The Senate knew about this problem two years ago."

4:37
John McCain seemed to understand this problem even earlier. In 2002 and 2003 he voted with the minority to close the Enron loophole.

4:47
"We're all tainted," by Enron's money, he said. "Enron made a sound investment in Washington. It did them a lot of good. Where they really do well is around the edges, the insertion of an amendment [the Enron loophole] into an appropriations bill." (New Yorker, Feb 2002)

5:00
But for most of THIS (2008) campaign McCain has offered explanations OTHER than the influence of speculators and remedies OTHER than regulation:

5:09
"We can develop alternative energy sources." (McCain, June 9, 2008)

5:14
Will alternative energy fix things, without closing the Enron Loophole?

5:16
Michael Greenberger (Fmr. CFTC Dir. of Trading & Markets):
"And what's going to happen when you get all this new, clean energy, is the banks are going to go into those markets and rob those guys blind, like they're robbing the gas station owners and heating oil dealers in this country right now."

5:30
What about McCain's idea to stop filling America's strategic reserve?

5:34
George Soros (Chrmn, Soros Fund Management):
"These institutions, acting as a herd, are accumulating much larger...setting aside much larger reserves than the strategic reserve is.  It's a multiple."

5:50
John McCain doesn't talk about the Enron Loophole any more. One McCain advisor reportedly said he no longer even has a position on it. And when the bipartisan farm bill SHUT the Enron Loophole last month (2008), John McCain OPPOSED the farm bill, citing its spending levels.

6:06
What changed?

(Energy loopholes, Phil Gramm and John McCain)

6:08
Since 2006 John McCain's top economic advisor has been former TX Senator Phil Gramm, husband of the former CFTC head who then joined Enron. (see pt I)
  • McCain shared Gramm's 1996 Presidential race with Ken Lay as regional chairman.
  • It was Gramm who passed the Enron Loophole, partialy written by Enron itself, with no hearings, with no debate.
  • It was Gramm who stopped Democrats from closing the Enron Loophole.
  • And it was Gramm who became Vice-Chariman at the Swiss financial firm, UBS, in 2002, less than a year after UBS bought the shattered remains of... Enron's energy trading arm.

6:48
Federal lobbying forms reviewed by Countdown show that Gramm lobbied Congress about Commodity Trading Rules in 2006, and that his company -- specifically, his former aide, John Savercool, now a UBS lobbyist -- lobbied the Senate as recently as last year AGAINST 'The Close the Enron Loophole Act' (without actually calling it that).

McCain's finance co-chair, Wayne Berman, lobbied just last year for Chevron and for the American Petroleum Institute AGAINST the Price Gouging Prevention Act. And this year, the lobbying firm for which Berman serves as Managing Director was hired by the New York Mercantile Exchange to lobby AGAINST the 'Close the Enron Loophole Act'.

In fact, McCain's top campaign advisor, controversial lobbyist Charlie Black, was paid 140K by JP Morgan back in 2000 for the SOLE PURPOSE of lobbying Congress to pass the Commodities Modernization Act, the same act that contained the ENRON LOOPHOLE.

7:48
McCain skipped this month's hearing on gas prices. But this week, after committee member Maria Cantwell pushed the Bush Administration to investigate, McCain finally changed his tune — in public:

"We must reform the laws and regulations governing the oil futures market."

Senator John McCain, however,
...still has not mentioned the Enron Loophole
    ...still has Gramm
    ...and Berman
    ...and Black
...heading his campaign...writing his economic policy.

And when Senator Cantwell, sent a letter asking the CFTC to cut off a NEW LOOPHOLE that lets US speculators channel trades UNREGULATED through London and Dubai, John McCain declined to sign it.

8:35
Senator Obama, as well, has an advisor who has lobbied for the American Petroleum Institute. Obama reportedly OPPOSED the Enron Loophole and VOTED FOR that Farm Bill that contained a closure of it.

In an email today, the McCain campaign did not address our reporting on his advisors, but pointed instead to his 2003 vote against the Enron Loophole, and said, "Senator McCain's opposition to the farm bill had absolutely nothing to do with this issue, but rather the billions in pork-barrel projects and subsidies in the bill that are sure to do more harm than good for most farmers, consumers and taxpayers."

McShame has spent 26 years in Washington... What is his energy policy.... Dig up the last of the American off-shore and protected areas for oil that won't alleviate the high pump prices for several years... keep us oil dependent ... and with no solar/wind/alternative energy options. Typical trash from McShame!
