I met him last fall when he was running for president and asked him to get behind impeachment. He told me he had something in the works. He did his homework and he's leading the charge. :applause: :bounce:

66. Under some circumstances I would agree with you but
this election is far to important to all of us; So much so that a wasted vote is not at all wise. Obama while not my first choice is so far superior to Mc Jerk that there is no comparison. Not even close. Since he is out of the race, I will support Kucinich in other ways such as supporting in his own election to congress where he keeps on being the last true patriot.

9. I want a picture of this brave American in my home....
This man is the Abe Lincoln of today. He is the JFK, Franklin Roosevelt, the Jimmy Carter and all those others that have had the courage to do what is best for this country, as an honorable place to live and be proud of.

God bless this man and keep his courage strong. Damn those that hide behind "political games" and name calling. I am sick of these politicians playing politics instead of following their sworn oathes.

Remember...we impeached Bill Clinton for lying about having a sexual relation that affected NOBODY but he and his personal life. This administration has brought ruin to millions, cause deaths to hundreds of thousands, and drug the name of the United States through the filthiest sewer in the world. Damn him to hell, and all those who played a hand in his criminal acts.

Dennis Kucinich just impressed the hell out of me.

21. I have little faith..
That anything will come of this... The weakness in the leadership read as Pelosi, is astounding. She is far more vested in protecting Bush then in prosecuting him for his crimes. Shame too cause I thought so much more of her when she first reacted to the Illegal Surveillance act initiated by the Bush cabal. Her initial reaction was that she believed Bush was the first President to ever Admit to an impeachable offense... Then she promptly took impeachment off the table! Sorry that is not leadership and as far as I am concerned she is as guilty as the rest of them.

I was very disappointed that NPR didn't carry the hearing ---

and, evidently, nor did Air America --- ??? !!!!

but WBAI/Pacifica did -- 99.5 FM ....

However, did they drop the hearing sometime after 2:30 or was the hearing over by then?

I'm watching now via C-span...

This was 6 hours long but the most worthwhile way to spend the day. Other than the occasional book promotion, and being called "demented" by a some, most of this hearing was great. It was so incredible that this subject was even brought up. What the hell has taken so long????
Well done. CNN said they will repeat the show in full at 8:00pm tonight.

65. It's the right-wing attack on them that's been going on for three decades . . .
took them a long time to do it -- but both PBS and NPR are over --

the only way to recapture this is by doing what other countries do --

have the public support the press directly.

I'm also amazed at how few question the Corporation for Public Broadcasting ---

the right-wing private corporation which directs PBS --- and it's been there a long time!

it just really, really made me feel better ---

somehow puncturing the balloon that hung over everything which said "we don't see anything wrong!"

And glad so much was made of the Signing Statements which are atrocious!

And --- it's the Congress' responsibility TO ENSURE THAT LEGISLATION IS CARRIED OUT WITH THE

SPIRIT AND INTENT WITH WHICH THE LEGISLATION IS PASSED --- !!!

And they haven't responded to more than 1,000 of them --- !!!!

37. God bless you, Mr Kucinich.
Boggles the mind why more representatives are not doing their jobs and impeaching lawbreakers. Guess we have elected a bunch of compromised or ignorant sell-outs and goofs.

Time to hold them responsible for their negligence and incompetencies and give most all of them the boot.

Wexler is a keeper, however, this from his email today:

"While Inherent Contempt might dislodge some testimony or at least guarantee the appearance of witnesses, the larger concern is the President's outrageous abuse of Executive Privilege.

We have been down this road before: in 1973, Articles of Impeachment were introduced against President Nixon after he illegally tried to use Executive Privilege to bury evidence of his wrongdoings."

42. Rep. Kucinich is a real patriot
This man has, at times single handedly, fought for our country and the ideals on which it was founded. Honesty, integrity, accountability, and statesmanship are more than words to Dennis Kucinich; they are principles by which to live and govern. Our point in history is over-run with those who think that a president who openly says that "the Constitution is just a goddamn piece of paper" is not worthy of impeachment or censure, that he may in fact remain in office and continue his despotic rule unimpeded, unchecked. I am sickened that our "leadership" has permitted this to continue.

It is telling indeed that these hearings occurred on a Friday, traditionally known as "dump day" for news, and on a day late in July when the August recess is close at hand. The American people better wake the hell up. Our country, and all it has stood for, is being beaten to death before our eyes.
Does it matter? Does anyone still care?

45. Did anyone watch Jeremy Ribkin closley in the hearing?
He was the Repug guy, dressed in beige, who acted/sounded overly excited, even paranoid. Used real weird concepts.
Has long history of Neo-con stuff.
But..the important thing about his testimony...

Mr. Dixie listened to him for 5 minutes, then said he was hearing "cocaine driven" talk.
We watched more closely at the body language, etc.
Hunter S...is that you?

Anyone else see it that way?

51. I Noticed...
His agitation but did not see other signs that would indicate cocaine in particular. I would have to observe him over the course of a much longer time to determine if this is neurological or drug induced. There was no jaw clenching and he managed to sit without much agitation. What he looked like to me is an individual with anxiety and hyperactivity. Or even like a fucking lying shill, if you will.

46. I just finished watching the entire hearing (taped on c-span).....
well, I stopped when King started asking questions of those 2 'kooky' republican witnesses....Presser and Rabkin.

It was the best TV I've seen in a long while....but this should have happened over a year ago. It seemed rather anti-climatic in a way and somewhat just for publicity...BUT I would love to see some Impeachment Hearings. I just got my 'Impeach Both!!!' hat in the mail yesterday....would love to put it to good use while  and  while viewing the witnesses sweat bullets. I want to bring these neocons to justice.

Did you see the hearings in their entirety? I rate a

but saw the rest. I was getting kind of frustrated about how the dems were not really engaging Presser and Ribkind...until Hank Johnson (GA) started his questioning. He started off so slowly, and almost stumbling over his words, so much so that I was almost tempted to fast forward. It turned out that he was totally roping Presser into acknowledging (albeit vaguely, but this was much more than Presser gave up during the rest of the hearings) that it might make sense to pursue further investigation. Keith Ellison followed up right after to pick off Ribkind, the other repub shill. Great stuff!

47. Dennis K is my hero!!
We'd better enjoy this moment because there's a good chance it's the only thing we'll see come of this effort. Not because it isn't the right thing to do or because their arguments weren't persuasive, because they were. But I'm afraid Pelosi is going to smother this baby in its crib.

Thanks, L. Coyote for posting this.

As a Tarheel I'm really proud that we had two North Carolinians on the panels, Brad Miller, a Dem, and Walter Jones, a Republican. Plus, we had Mel I'm-not-gonna-lead-but-I-will-follow-if-the-political-winds-turn Watt, who made me want to puke; although, he did say he would go along to get along.

Kucinich and Hinchey were so frickin' outstanding!!!! Bless you two. Brad Miller at least had the balls to bring up Bush's secrecy and the lawbreaking of the OLC when he could have been a silent accomplice and he probably would have gotten little flack from his constituents in Greensboro. Jones, Mr. Signing Statements, showed himself to be an honorable conservative who cares about our Constitution.

There were so many "jump up and SHOUT" moments that I hardly got a chance to go take a leak, but my highest praises go to committee members Wexler, Sheila Jackson Lee, Hank Johnson (who was brilliant in hounding Pressler into admitting that there was good reason to pursue the impeachment inquiry further to get answers to the question of whether impeachment was appropriate), Nadler, Scott, Cohen, and Baldwin. I thought Lofgren wasn't into it with any fervor, and just kept asking "what can we do?". Same for Watt and Ellison, Sherman and Schiff, who surprised me that they were not more forceful. Wasserman-Schultz was a joke, choosing to use the pronoun "I" one hundred times and invoking her days in the Florida legislature. (God, I hate that woman--please vote her out, Sunshine State). Conyers sort of redeemed himself, but he is far too easy on the smartasses in the gallery, IMO. (It's a Congressional hearing not a demonstration on the street).

Put Bugliosi in charge of the PROSECUTION FOR MURDER as soon as Bush is out of office. Man, he made me whoop and holler--especially when he got into it with Lamar "my head is buried in Bush's crotch" Smith. We might need to get him round-the-clock bodyguards if we want to see him have his day in court.

Holtzman, Anderson, and Fein were stellar. FAO Schwarz seemed like a "plant" for the truth commission idea.

I wasn't too surprised by the Repig committee members although Franks is one scary fascist son-of-a-bitch. And a J. Edmund Groover look alike to boot.

Okay, all you faithful Democrats. Get on your phones and tell these folks how much you want them to vote to continue the inquiry. This needs some sunlight if it's going to go anywhere. NOT ONE SINGLE DEMOCRAT I ASKED KNEW ABOUT THIS HEARING UNTIL I TOLD THEM. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE.

So far, the MSM has buried this. I listened to NPR news at the top of the hour twice and did not hear one sentence about it. Shameful--and no more $$ from me.

I hope Obama was watching this since he didn't get to visit our wounded warriors. We need to turn him around on this.

53. I watched my local FOX station tonight, it was pretty sad...
They actually covered the impeachment story. But it was something to behold as they said almost no one agrees with Kucinich and implied he was mentally unbalanced and sees UFOs all the time. I have seen hatchet jobs before, but that was one of the worst I have seen.

60. Perhaps you should not ever watch a Fox station again!!
If everyone quits watching them, they will go away.

57. If Carolyn Kennedy ever updates her father's "Profiles in Courage",
she should add a chapter on Dennis Kucinich.

Finally, their actions begin to make sense in this context!!!
