1. Interesting and 'wonderfully refreshing' to hear someone speak intelligently |
|
(after years and years of torture listening to pResident stupid)
What is Mr. Sarkozy's level of understanding/speaking english? Also, what is Mr. Obama's level of understanding/speaking French?
No hidden agenda/subtleties with asking this question, just curious.
TIA.

3. I'm sure the president of France knows his English! |
|
But the French are just too chauvinist to speak any other language than their own! And they shouldn't! Because you come across far more natural and confident when you're speaking in your own language.
What I DO hate, is how Americans are the only people who can't pronounce names of foreign leaders the way it's supposed to. They always 'Americanize' it. The French president's name is Sar-ko-zee; NOT Sar-KO-see. Why is it the Dutch and the German can do it, but the Americans can't? ;)

4. I noticed that ..... Mr. Obama's pronounciation seemed wrong |
|
but then I thought it was *me* who had it wrong. I guess I was right.
Mr. Obama should make sure that his front men/women inform him of these details.....pronunciation, history, etc. They are VERY IMPORTANT to diplomatic relationships.
(Hey, I'm a great 'detail' person, annoyingly so. I'd be willing to help Mr. Obama's campaign. If he'd only PM me?!?! lol ;-) )

7. It's not only Obama. It seems to be common among English-speaking people. |
|
Yet, the French (or Germans or Dutch etc.) never mangle American names. It's funny how that works.
Why don't you give Obama a call? I'm sure he would gladly take your help. ;)

6. The more that I think about it....the more glaring the mistake of Mr. Obama to |
|
not know the correct pronunciation of Mr. Sarkozy's name. Especially after all the efforts to discredit Mr. Obama by using various/disparaging versions of his own name. Names are IMPORTANT. Know them. Know them CORRECTLY.
I'm done 'speechifying' for tonight now. ;-) , M_Y_H

9. There were translators speaking into their earpieces... |
|
During the Q&A section, those audio translations were fed to the TV audience also.
