Election Central Sunday Roundup

By Eric Kleefeld - July 27, 2008, 12:54PM

Stephanopoulos Corners McCain On Timetables
During John McCain's interview today on ABC's This Week With George Stephanopoulos, McCain got noticeably flustered when he denied having called 16 months "a pretty good timetable" for leaving. McCain denied using the word "timetable," and insisted that any departure from Iraq would have to be based only on conditions -- though he wouldn't mind if withdrawal happened in two months, four months, six months or yesterday. Check it out:

4. Why are republics
such grinning assholes? It's like they're talking DOWN to you and they know something you don't. Fuck you McCain. "Snake eyes Cindy McCain" swore there would be no dirty politics, what the fuck is that latest ad??
She reminds me of "Angelina" Dylan's song, "Face like a hyena".

8. Exactly! The Cons always try to control the conversation so
they can run out the clock.

And doesn't that smile of his remind you of some sort of rictus-like grin?

And not to pile-on but I think they overdid the makeup. :eyes:

6. Georgie may be chastised by his mentor, Hannity, for not giving McCain a free pass.
I am sure ABC will send the memo that demands kid gloves for McCain.

7. My question for McSame = How did the "surge" work if we can't leave for 100 years?
Glad McCain is being held accountable.

10. McCain and the Republicans keep repeating the line that the surge is working.
According to what?

What are the criteria that you use to measure the surge's success?

I've heard no specific instances or other measuring sticks to back the claim that the surge is working.

It appears to me that the pro-war side just wants to bully the dialogue by repeating over and over that the surge is working and drown out any dialogue to determine how it is working. Why? Because the surge is NOT working and if the dialogue ever evolves to the point where the supporters have to come up with tangible evidence that is working, they're SOL!

11. I know we elected Bush twice, but if this guy wins, I'll have to consider taking...
...serious advantage of my status as a "legal foreigner" of Spain and stay here when I retire. It makes me rather sick to think this guys signature would be on my retirement certificate.
