1. Frankly, I'm surprised at the names on the short list
But I think that it would be wise to go with a governor rather than a Senator. And think about it--Obama and Kaine--they are OK!!!

2. The list is too white and too male
But at least there are no Republicans on it--I guess we are supposed to be happy with that!

7. I think we should be demanding a female for VP ---
Let's get some gender balance going in America ---

let's acknowledge the largest part of the population --- the majority of the population ---

the FEMALES ---

8. ...and make sure that we don't get a DLC candidate . . .
It looks like these are all members of the corporate-branch of the Democratic Party!!!

That's the wrong direction --- over and again ---

18. I wholeheartedly agree with that...NO MORE DLC
or Blue Dogs. I'd kind of like to take the Democratic party back from these conservative ideologues and return to a two party system where the two parties actually represent two different ideologies, as opposed to two parties that simply represent the same corporate-conservative interests.

12. I think so, too.
It would go far in assuaging many feminist Clinton supporters, but it wouldn't be HRC who brings an ex-president as baggage. I would feel much happier if there was a woman on the ticket. Good lord, now THAT would be a truly historic ticket and a phenomenal advancement in human rights.

19. I'm surprised at how few females here have brought this up . . .
usually the women's organizations present some names ---

haven't heard anything about it this time around ---

It always looks like women are too busy to post much on internet ---???

15. My best three were Edwards, Feingold, or Richardson...
Edited on Tue Jul-29-08 11:32 PM by calipendence
Less corporate than these guys... I guess the RW hit squad took out my best shot with Edwards...

In my book, it STILL is not JUST to win votes in November. It is someone who shares his values and he trusts, that will less likely to have Obama "taken out" to backhandedly put him in charge, and even if he is, carry out the same policies that Obama would and what people would have voted Obama in to do.

Of the three here, Kain does seem the best to me, but I think there's many others out there that I'd pick over these three.

5. List me as "ABB" -- anybody but Bayh...
I think I'd be happy with Kaine. I know I'd be happy with Biden.

As for Evan Bayh - just say, "No!" I live in Indiana where Bayh is known for his complete lack of courage.

16. McCain is looking better !
Obama is against more coal fired power plants, Kaine is for more coal fired power plants. The true Kansan Obama should be looking at is Sebilus !!!

An Obama/Kaine ticket won't help Obama in Virginia. Kaine has been a disappointment for a lot of us Appalachian Mountain tree hugging rednecks. Our beautiful mountains are being raped, bombed and blasted to hell destroying our water and leaving a moon scape behind.

17. The best VP for Obama is anyone the right wing does not like.
If Obama chooses a running mate that the right wing likes, there is a risk that we will see another Kennedy tragedy. I know it is offensive for me to say that. But I and many other Democrats were traumatized by Kennedy's assassination, and I do not want to see that happen to any other president ever. Obama will, I believe, be very popular with Americans as was Kennedy, but a certain fanatical segment of the public will never accept him. If Obama chooses a running mate that segment prefers, he could really be risking a lot. He should be very careful. None of the three mentioned is, in my opinion, a safe choice for Obama.
