3. Pelosi's failure of leadership as Speaker makes her complicit
in the Bush administration's crimes. Pelosi is an embarrassment as Speaker and as a human being.

"When I became Speaker, by the way, a VERY important position -- President, Vice-President, Speaker of the House".

Pelosi is so enamored of her position nothing else matters in her world.

Then Pelosi goes on to cite her intention to bring the country together and work with the Republicans to pass an "agenda" that she hasn't been able to pass because the Bush administration and the Republicans AREN'T working together. Then she makes the RIDICULOUS assertion that there are no crimes and that you have to have "the goods" before impeachment!

START THE IMPEACHMENT PROCEEDINGS YOU IGNORANT IMBECILE AND THE EVIDENCE OF THE CRIMES WILL BE FORTHCOMING.

Pelosi should be tried right alongside Bush and Cheney because her refusal to do her constitutional duty is complicity in those crimes.

16. Yes it IS a very Important position..............
She fails to see the obvious! If she really wanted to end the war, Let the impeachment of Cheney & Bush go forward and as President SHE could issue an executive order to start ending the WAR!
Couldn't a 5th grader figure that out?

"When I became Speaker, by the way, a VERY important position -- President, Vice-President, Speaker of the House".

You definitely said it all! Her argument to not impeach is because she is complicit. She sat in meetings where she was briefed on wire tapping and torture, knew they were illegal and did nothing about it.

43. This woman is NOT an imbecile.
Follow the money.

First Di Feinstein, the Puppet Master of most things Democratic in the state of California, gets to both vote for the IWR and then see to it that her husband's firm gets 25 to 27 million dollars worth of contracts in Iraq.

That used to be called conflict of interest. In the good old days of twenty or thirty years ago, that type of thing (Having a husband who wants contracts in a war zone) would have meant that as a Senator you recuse yourself from voting for that war.

Yet no one on either side of the aisle thought to mention her conflict of interest to anyone.

Now over the past few months, Feinstein's husband has come into over two hundred million dollars worth of contracts in Iraq.

What this looks, smells, walks and talks like to me is that Feinstein is being allowed by her friends on the other side of the aisle to have massive, ill-gotten amounts of money AS LONG AS SOME of it is used to help encourage people like Pelosi to stay in line.

Yes, Feinstein's office has a record of letting the public know that Di Fi has recused herself from every legislative interaction in the Senate, but some indie media types have shot huge holes through those statements of denial.

We are a Banana Republic. And the oil profits, the food profits, the special favors for special people, the disparity of wealth - each day the list of qualities and standards that identifies the USA as a Banana Republic grows a bit longer. About the only dis-similarity that is not shared with most Banana Republics is that nowhere in the main 48 do we grow bananas, but I bet Monsanto is working on that one!!

And one of the chief hallmarks of a banana republic is that in a banana republic, the legislators are almost all paid off.

http://www.democracynow.org/2008/7/30/house_speaker_nancy_pelosi_defends_her

"REP. DENNIS KUCINICH: Well, now that I’ve heard that the Speaker is looking for evidence that crimes may have been committed, I certainly want to direct her attention to the thirty-five articles of impeachment that I presented, which assert quite directly that crimes have been committed, including taking this nation into a war, an illegal war, based on lies; including the deaths of over a million innocent Iraqis, which constitute a war crime; including wiretapping, rendition, torture, illegal detention. There are many examples of laws that have been broken.

And the reason why the Judiciary Committee should hold a hearing on the impeachment itself is because there needs to be a public airing of this. So, I have a great deal of respect for Speaker Pelosi, and I think that since she made that statement on The View, there’s an opportunity now for us to come forward and to lay all the facts out so that she can reconsider her decision not to permit the Judiciary Committee to proceed with a full impeachment hearing.

I just want to state this, that I appreciate that she consented to a hearing on Friday. It was a six-hour hearing, over a dozen witnesses. Twenty-four members of Congress attended. It’s being taken seriously.

I think the idea that nothing can be done right now because we’re on the eve of an election raises questions about our constitutional responsibility to be a check and balance to administration abuse of power. If in fact we’re in a war that’s based on lies, and we have thousands of troops whose lives are on the line every day, we owe it to them and we owe it to the American people to set straight the public record. And then, whether or not it results in the President being removed from office before the end of his term is another matter.

I want to further say that with the possibility of a war in Iran in the offing, a war against Iran, a war that would be a result of a pre-emptive attack, much like the one that the United States launched against Iraq, it becomes very important that we hold this administration to the highest standard of having to verify the statements they make to take us into one war and to try to take us into another."

19. I was willing to give her the benefit of a doubt
but it appears more and more likely that my first instinct were right when she said, upon taking power as Speaker that she was more than complicit with the Bush administration. We can wait a few weeks more, i.e. in Sept. after the Democratic nomination of Obama. She seems to need that shield to oppose the Bush WH.

Awesome. There are very few Reps in the House who can whittle an issue down to its essence like this. How succinct - How exact.

7. The BEST reason I've ever heard for Impeachment.
"If Nixon HAD gone to prison, we wouldn't have had a Bush/Cheney administration" Because they would have known they'd be held accountable. I heard this today on NovaM radio and it was so spot on.

15. Bills Bills Bills
But look at all the marvelous legislation we've passed. No brainers that nobody's against that are forty years overdue.

We lawmakers got to keep at what we're good at. Making up that sea of laws that apply to you little people but not to the executive branch of our government. We have granted them a license to kill and steal and spy and torture and imprison and embezzle and smear, which is so much more insignificant than all those no brainer bills you little people better appreciate a little more.

Do you know how ignorant an American you have to be to ask "Crimes? I don't know of any? Anybody seen any White House crimes around here? No? Didn't think so. But if you little people do manage to dig up any, we'll put impeachment in the same room as the table."

20. Did Anyone Notice the Spooky Background When the View was Interviewing Rep. Pelosi?
They had shadowy letters on the Left Top of the Screen, and A Pulsating Beacon Wave at the Right Top. I can say this Rep. Pelosi is very willful, and not willing to address the Peoples need for the Restoration of Our Republic. End the Lies. End the Tyranny. Begin Brotherhood. Begin Sisterhood. Begin Self Responsibility. Begin Honesty!

...but the reason Congress has such bad ratings is that we sent you people up there with a majority and with the charge to kick these bastards - geedubya and dickless - to the curb. To do something to stop their looting of the treasury and to salvage something of America's reputation around the world...and you've 'effin' failed at every turn. To hell with your agenda, how about our agenda? We'll do this one more time with even a bigger majority and this time we better get a Speaker in there that will do the will of the people...and that ain't you babe.

Nancy Pelosi? Not so hysterical.... but might as well be a comedian.

Still...it must be remembered that the Senate is indeed a problem. Add to it's not-really-a-majority status the Blue Dogs and you have a problem.

32. Who's Advising Her To Make Such A Public Ass Of Herself?
Did they not hear the applause -- even among a "View" live audience -- for impeachment?

Don't they get it that what people saw/heard was not her prattling on about in DC-speak about trivialities, but that applause and the look on Whoopie's face?

Perhaps since our self-proclaimed "Divisiveness Czar" has her head briefly removed from the large sphincter muscle that is the DC beltway, she might see that impeachment is also the only way to re-unite our once-great nation.

This impeachophobia is chipping away at the Party's brand each and every day. And it will cost us 4moreyears** of bushcheneyism.

Impeachment remains our ONLY moral, patriotic, (and electoral, legislative, diplomatic, legal, ...) option.

===
**Yes, I said 4 more years. Make no mistake, any and all Repubs remain under the thumb of cheney(ism/ists) -- he don't need no stinking "I'm The Veep" badge -- his power is very real, in the real world, among the Republican locksteppers. Without the public rejection/disgrace of impeachment, they still control the beltway.

It matters little to them of there's another GOPuppet or another DemPinata.

33. Pelosi, a true Republican at heart . . . .
I have thought for some time Pelosi fit in the category of an insider Republican with a D after her name. Decided to give her time and be fair with my assumption .... well everything tells me I was right from the very start. Her behavior dictates she is either a Republican in platform and loyalty or she's crazy. She certainly prevents the Congress from accomplishing major progress by taking anything of national interest "off the table". There is no other explanation for her behavior.
Congress needs to move to replace her ..... and soon.

42. A Petition to Replace Pelosi as Speaker... make it a 3-fer
http://www.petitiononline.com/everyman/petition.html

“The naming of the Speaker in the Constitution does not prevent the House from choosing a new Speaker at any time.

The Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives is a constitutional officer in that the Constitution names that office in its text. U.S. Const. art. I, § 2, cl. 6 (providing that the “House of Representatives shall choose their Speaker”).

It is well-settled that the U.S. Speaker may be removed from office by a resolution presenting a question of privilege declaring the office of Speaker vacant. 6 Cannon § 35.

Simply put, the Speaker is no more than a member of the House of Representatives elected by the citizens residing within a single member district just as any other member of the House.

The Speaker serves as the presiding officer at the will of the House and can therefore be removed by the will of the House.”
